What did you do in the garden today?

DS fever would not break with ibuprofen, I had to drive and get Tylenol for him. He was at 104.6.... I was in full panic mode. Within 45 minutes of the acetaminophen his fever dropped to 99.2 and he was happy to eat, walk outside, etc.

I have to leave town for work tomorrow, DH is working from home so he's in charge of keeping the small human alive. That stresses me out. 🤣🥴

I mowed the lawn, trimmed back plants, mowed the clover.... I accidently mowed the fake grass.......... 🫣 Just a tiny bump, trying not to run over the extension cord... Ugh.

Also, kids are obnoxious and rude. In case you don't have them and don't know.

Speaking of too late...the hail did a number on my entire garden. 😥 Little seedlings that I nutured & grew up indoors months ago...what a sad end. I have 3 tomato plants that survived & the corn is trying to rise again. I think a pumpkin plant is hanging on. I don't understand how squash & cucumbers can just get pulverized like that...was it that much hail? I guess so. It knocked over that end of the garden stakes & deer netting, too. Maybe we had a mini-nado, it was all twisted like a big swirl blew it in a circle. The wind & hail Pummeled my wildflowers, too, all still blooming but laying down now, all flat on the ground.

Here it is mid June, but it is as hot as the end of July! 🥵 This is not typical, heat like this so darn soon. Oh, we get our share of 100+ degree days, but usually not til end of Jul & August. While June may not be too late to plant some things, with this heat...wow, I don't think it's a good idea. I dont want to sprout some seeds for nothing, only to have them get fried. Any advice?

agree. the same here. my seedlings are stunted.

I’m so glad his fever is breaking! Kids can spike so quickly - ugh.

I’m glad you knew you could piggy back Tylenol/ibuprophen.

When I was a young adult in my 20s, I had a lot of therapy. I think at some point I was "diagnosed" with both of those things and many more. I was put through a cadre of different drugs. None of it actually made me feel better... That went on for a decade. Then I lost my insurance and stopped taking all medications for a period of time. Incidentally I started taking a class 3-4 days per week that was a mix of 30 minutes of CrossFit followed by an hour of close combat martial arts. This combination of high intensity workout completely CURED any and all symptoms of fill-in-the-blanket mental health struggles. No longer did I feel depressed, anxious, whatever. It was the best thing for my health that ever happened and it was completely by surprise and unexpected. Now I wouldn't take a psychiatric drug if my life depended on it. I'm not saying they aren't necessary for some people but I do think we have a whole society of people who are horribly over-prescribed things they don't need. As for the Claritin-D, I only take it when my allergies become completely unmanageable which isn't often.
It's a good day when I don't need allergy medicine, & those days do happen, more often than the bad allergy months, thank goodness. Spring & early summer are rough for me. Usually the allergies start in April then phase out some time in mid to late July, so I can ditch the Allegra & just do a teaspoon of honey in tea which really does help the sore throat.

There's a lot to be said about "therapy" and yes there are times & occasions where it helps. I agree that just getting active & getting some fresh air & sunshine & caring for animals & plants can be extremely therapeutic. The human body, mind & soul were not meant to sit sedentary in a cubicle under fluorescent lights without fresh air. How many people do just that, daily, for years, for decades? We are part of nature, so to isolate ourselves from it just isn't natural. Eating chemicals & fake boxed foods just isn't natural. Breathing stale air in buildings with windows that never open, being stressed out, always in a rush, always worried, always striving to meet some impossible deadline or beat last week's quota, because they keep raising the bar so you inevitably are not able to, does not create peace & happiness. Lifestyle, career, our family (human, feathered, furry or scaled), the foods we eat, our daily activities & where we do them, & our attitudes, all play a huge part in our overall health, physical, mental & spiritual. Just being active & getting some vitamin D sunshine & fresh air & hugging a plump chicken, brushing your horse, playing with your dog or cat & digging in your garden & getting up off of the duff can do wonders!
