What did you do in the garden today?

I use this guide loosely. It's great when i'm being lazy.

https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/gardening-by-zone

There are a few things on my zone that are like "plant this in August" yeah, no. you're dumb. but generally it's a good guide for most plants!

However for my zone this page is much more useful.... This is my guide for zone 9; https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ga...e-9-10-11/zone-9-vegetable-planting-guide.htm

it's way better than most of their other veggie guides
Wow thank you, very good info!

Weeding scratched as raining and more in forecast.
Not a bad harvest. I don’t like the cowpeas on these panels bc I can get to them. The yard long hang through- those sit on top! Had to get someone to guide me on outside of garden while picking them!
I have watermelon and now corn developing! I have not had success w those in past years! ❤️ chicken poo!
Pickling time!

So behind here...

Scheduled for oral surgery today. Please just get this over with. My kale is tall enough to start picking a few leaves. I figured out how to hang shade cloth to help the sugar snap peas. I can do that tomorrow morning before the temperatures hit 90+. The sprinklers are all set to water most of the garden areas. My immediate backyard gardens will have to be watered by hand. The impending heatwave has been downgraded from 5 days to 3 or 4. I may try to spray my peach tree again. There’s a lot of fruit setting now. Only sparse rain forecasted on Friday. Until then hot and humid.
Good luck! Glad to hear you were downgraded as I'll be right down the road from you this weekend! I'm hoping the local new is just being dramatic with their forecast.

Took a walk thru the garden before the heat wave hits:

YAY!!! They found the Butterfly Weed!

The beans have just about reached the top of the trellis.

The bush bean tower is totally out of control, lol. Edamame on top.

The spiderwort exploded overnight.

First time growing Eggplant, it's looking really good.

I am just loving Nasturtiums, not sure why it took me so long to grow them.

I love spiderwort! Have you used the leaves (crushed) on ant bites and stings? It’s like a miracle how it takes the sting out

I have not. We don't really have ants that bite here! I can't remember the last time I was stung by a bee, but very good to know because DH annoys the stupid white faced hornets all the time & they're mean. :gig

Oh so envious! I think I live on an ant hill!
We tried it on a wasp sting (stung ds head 😱) and it was instantly gone - no red marks- nothing.
I love the way God puts the cure to these pests out there! And we just grab leaves and rub on spots until you see green juice from leaves on skin/bite

It's a good day when I don't need allergy medicine, & those days do happen, more often than the bad allergy months, thank goodness. Spring & early summer are rough for me. Usually the allergies start in April then phase out some time in mid to late July, so I can ditch the Allegra & just do a teaspoon of honey in tea which really does help the sore throat.

There's a lot to be said about "therapy" and yes there are times & occasions where it helps. I agree that just getting active & getting some fresh air & sunshine & caring for animals & plants can be extremely therapeutic. The human body, mind & soul were not meant to sit sedentary in a cubicle under fluorescent lights without fresh air. How many people do just that, daily, for years, for decades? We are part of nature, so to isolate ourselves from it just isn't natural. Eating chemicals & fake boxed foods just isn't natural. Breathing stale air in buildings with windows that never open, being stressed out, always in a rush, always worried, always striving to meet some impossible deadline or beat last week's quota, because they keep raising the bar so you inevitably are not able to, does not create peace & happiness. Lifestyle, career, our family (human, feathered, furry or scaled), the foods we eat, our daily activities & where we do them, & our attitudes, all play a huge part in our overall health, physical, mental & spiritual. Just being active & getting some vitamin D sunshine & fresh air & hugging a plump chicken, brushing your horse, playing with your dog or cat & digging in your garden & getting up off of the duff can do wonders!
I don't disagree at all with anything you said... But I've always been a country girl. Always had animals. Never been a couch potato... But there's a different type of chemistry that's activated from high intensity workouts... Could be the release of natural endorphins that flood your body during that type of exercise... Or maybe spending an hour laying into a punching bag or sparring with another person is the game changer. I don't know... I just know that after a few months of leaving those sessions, I felt the best I ever did in my entire life. Not just physically but mentally and emotionally too. It was more than just being outside or doing simple activities like biking, hiking, or even gardening.

No one responds? Hmmm, time to go over someone's head.

Bet if that report lands on the desk of someone that had illness from mold, either them or a loved one, it'll get some action.

Maybe an anonymous letter published in a newspaper, especially the online edition. If ya get people talkin' eventually the right person will hear.

Do a search to find sites where people might be able to help get some action. There needs to be testing done. It could be very dangerous for people working in those conditions. Seriously, get the word out.
My DH works for the state health department. He gets mold complaints all the time. He's forced to tell people that there's nothing in the state or federal laws that require mold remediation so basically there's nothing he can do. However he does tell people to call the state agency that deals with environmental quality (state level EPA, basically) and file a complaint. You can also file a complaint with OSHA since it's work related.
