What did you do in the garden today?

G’morning all. I watered, rinsed out the chicken waders and topped up the water buckets. We’re supposed to be 118 today and 117 tomorrow, it’s already warm. Nothing else happening out there through the week but watering. Hopefully we’ll cool down some by the weekend, but our rain chances will go up so it’ll get humid. Going to make an appointment for our bulk trash and get that stuff out of here, maybe burn some dry stuff early one morning to get that out of here too.

Hahaha, great minds & all that! It works great for it, I bough it just for this. I always make a mess of DHs shop drying stuff so this will help keep it together & not in his way. & when the garlic is dry, the onions will go on it next.
Inquiring minds want to know what kind and where the shelf came from

Watering this morning, pulled a few weeds. Cleaning & filling chickens waterers, 1 teaspoon ACV per gallon.

Found my sweet young Brahma dead. She was just at the age to start laying eggs. 😔

No one else seems ill or stressed, I've kept up with water & there is always shade available during this heat of summer.

I set up 3 seniors in a room where it's about 80 degrees tops, thanks to a/c window unit. I know they won't be with me long, they're pretty old, but at least they're comfortable.

I was bummed out about my young Brahma hen passing. I was watering the garden & looked up to see a mama deer & twin fawns out in the farm field & it made me smile. The field owners planted soybeans this year. It's slow to grow with lack of rain. For weeks it's been brown & I wondered if they'd planted anything. That 10 minute downpour made the field begin to turn green.

Your baby fawns are gorgeous mama, 🦌 you can continue to eat the tons of growth at the wooded lot, but please stay out of my garden. 🙏

So far so good, no one has touched my blueberries or blackberries.

I guess I did do something in the garden today after all. The grow bag I planted the white fingerling potatoes in was looking like they were dying. I planted those last so I thought they might be a fail. The first clump I pulled up was rotted but the second clump had tiny potatoes on it. I left the remaining plant clumps and hope they get bigger.

That’s almost the quantity of seed potatoes that I planted

I made sour dough boiled egg sandwiches mixed with mayo, mustard and home grown salted/fermented relish. I added a piece of thin sliced ham and wrapped each sandwich in plastic film and put them in my ice box. I'll heat them up in my microwave for lunch or snacks when I want to eat them.

I got a lot of pickles and other fermented stuff from this year's harvest, and I am having fun figuring out what to do with them.

I still haven't figured out what to do with my fermented kale, onions, and green tomatoes...... :wee
