What did you do in the garden today?

I have a bumper crop of garlic, and I want to freeze some. I tried mincing some and freezing in an ice cube tray.

I thought a "cube" would pop out easily. Nope, little chunks of garlic started falling out of all the cubes.

Has anyone frozen garlic? How'd you do it, and did it work well?
I did it in olive oil one year. It was good, but I just froze it all in a container, I should have done it in an ice cube tray! It was impossible to break off pieces like I thought. But yes, it was good stuff!

I think I'll get the tray out and dribble olive oil into the cubes, then refreeze. I want to get little blobs of frozen garlic.

I have always just stored it, and it lasts... pretty well. Until about February/March. I usually end up tossing the last 20ish cloves, as they've started to sprout or mold.

I plant the sprouting cloves and use as green garlic... sorta like green onions

I plant my garlic in the fall. But I never thought about planting the sprouting cloves in the spring and using the greens! There's something to try next season. Thank you.

I saw a video that showed how to freeze garlic with oil. I think he froze the garlic/oil in small jars.

I couldn't find that video again so I am going to give this method a try, from America's Test Kitchen.

I installed a new carburetor on my Ryobi weed trimmer. Works like a champ now! I think that using gas with ethanol might have damaged the carb, maybe ate a pinhole through the diaghram. Using ethanol free gas from now on, even if it is nearly $7 a gallon.
HOLY CRAP!!! $3.50 here (non-ethanol)
