What did you do in the garden today?

I didn’t think the bees had found my herbs, but there was what I think was a Golden Digger Wasp on my basil yesterday and it came back today. Not what I was expecting, but I’ll take it! Hummingbirds are also happy with the bolted herbs.

Memo to myself I need to trellis the beans better next year. The stakes I’m using now are too short. I might try an A frame trellis.

Psst, cattle panel trellises are strong.

So much rain over here in coastal NC.
But I was able to grab a few flowers between showers today!

We've had Noah's flood rain here in Pitt County, too.

Zinnias are gorgeous.

But will they fit into a 24” x 20” planter? That’s the issue I’m running into. I can’t put any really tall trellis in either, because the planters are only ~10” deep and they fall over.

I had home grown skillet lunch today. Including:

potatoes
cherry tomatoes
3 stalks of asparagus
kale
banana peppers
onions
garlic
eggs

I cut the cattle panels to fit using bolt cutters, and I am not strong.

I cut the end so that about 6" goes down into the soil. See right side of photo

You could also put it outside the planter.

Haven't been out to the garden yet. Need to get out there and decide what to do with it bc the weather is just too hot.

I looked at my garden today. It's still there.

Some of the rattlesnake bean vines have grown around 18" above the trellis. I'm surprised that the wind doesn't blow them over. The look like they're trying to find something new to grab ahold of.
