What did you do in the garden today?

I had to put on a poncho to let chickens out. It’s still raining. They ran out into the rain then back in 😂
They don’t like my yellow poncho much.
The garden will have to wait till the rain goes away.
When I 1st read this I thought you had put ponchos on chickens. 😆 Then I read it again & thought of how chickens react when they see a poncho, or as I tried once, a contractor's trash bag rain (budget DIY poncho)...either one, I can tell ya, chickens do not like them. 😆 🤣 😂

I boiled some small round eggplant slices until; they were al- dente in salt water and stored them in my refrigerator.

I made some roast beef sandwiches in advance with mayo, mustard, and a slice of fresh mozzarella cheese, and refrigerated them in sandwich bags.

For lunch today, I put my cooked eggplant slices on my readymade sandwiches before I heated it up in my microwave oven.

The melted mozzarella and eggplant slices blended perfectly with the mayo and mustard. The eggplant took my roast beef sandwich up another level.

Minus the mustard and that sounds like an amazing sandwich.

I had someone on a forum tell me that in Arkansas you can’t relocate raccoons or wildlife (I was capturing raccoons and relocating at a national park). We don’t live in AK.

That is a downer. Your choices are plant enough for them (which they multiply and will never be enough), or kill. 😕
Whomever told you that about Arkansas was misinformed. I have relocated coons, possums, foxes, snakes, and mice caught on my property to a state park located about 10 miles away. The park Rangers have been more than happy to accommodate me and even take them further into the tree line than I care to walk to release them.

I don't judge how others deal with their pest problems. To each their own. But I personally don't want to kill an animal that is just trying to survive....as long as it isn't a threat to other people or animals. I have put down a coon and a skunk which seemed to either have rabies or distemper. But unless they seem obviously ill, I won't kill them but instead elect to relocate them somewhere that they won't become a problem for me or someone else.

I grew potatoes in 7 gallon bags for the first time this year. Most of the earliest ones have died back so I got to harvest on Sunday. Now they are resting in a dark cupboard in our storeroom. Raising potatoes for sure does not save money, but it is fun!View attachment 3899940
Those look phenomenal
