What did you do in the garden today?

I can safely say they were not any we relocated! I’ve started wondering if the population that keeps growing isn’t people releasing some near our house.
You know, I think it’s time to make coon hunting popular again. Js
Fur prices made hunting and trapping coons not worth it. The anti-fur movement won. This is the result. Notice the problem animals are not bothering the anti-fur people as they are mostly city people.

I’ve heard raccoons are edible. Can anyone confirm? I’m also on board with bringing back raccoon hats or other problem critter clothes. I keep waiting for some celebrity to get a python snakeskin belt…

Yes they are edible. I had some as a kid but I don't think I prepared it right. At least I preferred rabbit and squirrel over ground hog and predators.

I found $5 for a prime extra large raccoon in 2021... In the 70's I got $40 to 50 for the same quality pelt . Not worth my effort to pelt out for that. Probably would spend more on salt and postage than that.

I think my snake beans are loving all the rain!
I need to start pulling things out but it’s too darn wet!
I need to decide what to plant this fall.
Definitely mustard greens and
broccoli.

I picked a big horn worm (big as my thumb!) off friend’s tomato and brought home for the chickens 😂
I’ve gone from crazy cat lady to crazy chicken lady I guess

Harvested the Lovage last night. My sister wants some seeds, so I'll get those in the post. The rest I'll toss somewhere in the front ditch and hope they take. I love the smell of the stuff, but my plants reach almost 8 feet, so they need their own space.

The mini purple hollyhock is almost done setting the first batch of seeds.

Concord grapes are starting to go purple.

Heading for 105 for the next few days. As long as the wind keeps blowing, it isn't AS horrible. But with everyone trying to get their hay up, now we watch for field fires.

G’morning all. I watered and we straightened up a bit outside, rinsed the chicken waders but I need to check on the duck pool and if it’s done draining yet. Not much else outside for us today, got a few things to get done in the house. I decided it’s time to change the covers on our mattress and box springs today and that is a two man job, oy! Have a great day everyone!

Yes, they are edible. My father would tell me stories about the number they would harvest back in So. IL and transport them over to the markets in Saint louis Mo to the Soulard meat Market. The key thing was to leave one appendage on them so the buyer could verify that they were indeed a Racoon "Trash Panda"

I bought a couple of 6-inch banneton baskets, thinking they were going to be half size 10-inch baskets. I was a little disappointed by how small they were when I opened the package.

I divided a 2-cup flour, 3/4 cup water, 1/2 cup starter and 1/2 tsp salt recipe into 3, but the rise was a little too high for me to bite into, so on my next attempt I made two smaller oval portions and put the bigger portion in a bowl lined with plastic film.

The round sour dough will turn out bigger than the oval ones, since it has more sour dough.
