What did you do in the garden today?

I picked a butternut squash but have dentist appointment so I can’t get to gross and sweaty. There is a good chance I won’t go back in garden today.
I’ve noticed one of my rir hens follow me back in coop every day, squaks, does a funny thing w her wings out. Maybe she’s trying to defend coop since only 1 rooster to 23 hens?

After I cleaned the poop boards I thought I would take a peek into the big garden. I wasn’t sweating when I went in. Half an hour later I came out sweating after tying up quite of a lot of my tomato plants. We’ve been getting 1/2 inch of rain every other day since Thursday and the my tomatoes are getting big and heavy. The San Marzano tomatoes are the biggest I’ve ever grown. It looks like I may have 2 butternut squash developing. This is my second year with these smaller bush types and I’m sure this will be the last. They just don’t produce well at all. The kale has succumbed to the insects so I pulled most of the plants and gave them to the old chickens. But the tomatoes and the black beans are growing very well so there’s that.

Should be the last hot humid day. Heat index warning today. Raccoons destroyed the popcorn patch. Just tasseled. Not really much of a cob yet to eat for them.

Tstorm right now , hopefully some rain but not too much.
I gave up on any kind of corn in the 70s because of them. Also a grill, they tore up the propane lines.

I watered and found where the ducks were hiding eggs. Brought in 11, I’ve been hunting almost a week. Last night the SS dropped her egg on the ground right in front of me so grabbed that as she was trying to peck it. Also cleaned the duck pool and their buckets with some white vinegar, sweated enough I had to change my shirt when I came in. Haven’t seen any weather yet, but as I recall we might have storms today. It’s cloudy with virga, but I hope some moisture actually hits the ground.

Same here! Last 5 rain predictions missed us. I should've been a meteorologist...still have a job & get paid whether you're right or wrong.

I have to water the garden today and pick my cherry tomatoes and crookneck and take them to Red bluff for a lady that works at the store. Then it's time for house cleaning and laundry

Same here! Last 5 rain predictions missed us. I should've been a meteorologist...still have a job & get paid whether you're right or wrong.

All Fortune tellers get paid wheather right or wrong. Seems to be hard to predict the future be it weather, love life or the stock market

This guy found that bread dough slurry attracts and drowns slug in his home-made slug trap. I think it's a good idea, but how do they drown? Why would the slugs submerge themselves in the liquid?
