What did you do in the garden today?

Still working on the laundry. I mowed the front yard a little while ago. I’m having a low energy day. I picked my first strawberry. It was good but I think I should have waited another day. Peaches are still not quite ripe which is kind of a good thing right now. Still need to catch up on the work I couldn’t do during our last extended rainy spell. I remembered I did freeze my leeks the last time I grew them. I sliced them into rings, froze them flat on a tray, then bagged them. I use them when I run out of raw onion. We’re having cool weather here as well @Sueby. I’m enjoying it but I don’t think the tomatoes like it. One of my Columbian Wyandotte hens is molting bad. She was dropping feathers for several days and when I opened their coop this morning there was a pile of white feathers on the floor. I would prefer them to molt when it’s not 20F outside. These cooler temperatures will be here until the weekend so I should be able to make some progress on my “to-do” list.

Hi friends,

a question i wanted to ask for a long time and always forgot:

I bet you all have countless of these multiple-pattern garden-hose nozzles…
Does anybody know what this »soaker« setting is meant to be used for?
I have it on all of my nozzles and all it does is "leaking" water all over the nozzle…

I love greens. I'm thinking collard, turnip, broccoli, cauliflower, beet. I ordered potato bags. We got some rain last night, wind shifted coming in from north so instead of sweltering humidity, it's actually nice this morning. Hawks are migrating so lots of them are visiting. My flock is very skittish & eating like they're starving. Shorter days jump started the great molt, feathers everywhere!
I'm planning on turnips, carrots, leaf lettuce, and maybe will try chard...and beets. Again. Beets don't grow for me, never have.

Yup, these are gardening hands. 😆 🤣 😂 Sure I have gloves, they're in the house, not on my hands. Good place for them right?

Let's compare pics
Oh yeah, & this is After washing them, that garden soil is embedded!

I usually wear gloves, mainly because I have been stung and/or bitten by insects while gardening. The gloves also protect my hands from slivers, thorns, prickers.

I have three pairs I pretty much have worn out, will have to find them again.
