What did you do in the garden today?

Minus the squash, this is what I picked today.

I had around 5 watermelons in various stages of growth that I intended to harvest. Checked on them today and discovered every single one of them has been completely eaten by garden rats or other critters. Just a shell left... 🤬🤬🤬🤬
I feel you with that I had a crookneck that was just a beautiful dark yellow and a day later half of it was eaten 🤬🤬

Mice love sunflower seeds. I have a 20-gallon trash can I store boss in for the wild birds in winter. A little left in the bottom makes a good mouse trap. No need to leave them a ladder. They get in without help. Any mice that get in the garage get trapped in the plastic trash can. I check it every few days. Can must be almost empty as they can jump really high.

We store all our animal feed in metal trashcans in the barn. We have ONE heavy duty plastic/rubber trash can. The rats chewed through the lid on that within a year. I also have an old metal deep freezer that we store layer pellets in too...

I really want to build a metal, mouse proof walk-in storage refrigerator but I just haven't had the spare cash to do it. 🙄

Should have a little more head space in that jar.
Me do not give a toot Grandma would have said that.
It was lower when it started. I thought the fermentation bubbles would all rise to the top but they didn't and caused the level to rise. It's all good. (if there's a)Next time I'll not fill so full.

It needs to ferment two or three weeks before I dump it in the food processor and turn it into pepper sauce.

I’d recommend getting a cat but mine is perfectly happy to chomp on the pea and bean plants if given the chance.

Went out and watered the garden. I bought 2 blueberry bushes and the one that had berries on it when I got it looks like it's about to die even though I have been putting the acidifier on it. My blackberry bushes are so strange too because the one that looks like it's about to die has longer branches than the other one which is extremely greener but also smaller. I'm letting the water just run on the garden because of the heat so before I came inside I took a dip in the pool.
