I need to freeze some more produce today.

.22 inch of rain. Chance tonight and tomorrow. Leaves are falling and not much color yet.

Simmered the 16 qts down to 7 and trayed them for the freeze dryer.

I'll do ketchup from one batch of tomatoes, puree from the rest.

The flock is molting hard and EARLY.

I'm about done freezing things, except for maybe another couple gallons of cherry tomatoes.

I have a lot of carrots in the garden that I'm going to leave in the ground this winter, something I haven't tried yet. I'll mulch them heavily with grass clippings and pull them up as I need them. I think the cold is supposed to make them sweeter.

I know that it's true for parsnips, and I think they are related to carrots.

I finally did some thing I went in there with a Weedwhacker and made a pass through so I can walk around the jungle that used to be a garden. This was a tough year. I was getting over cancer surgery and the garden was the last thing on the list of must be dones. i’m hoping to do better next year. got about 1/3 weed whacked today.
