What did you do in the garden today?

Absolutely positively excruciatingly freaking adorable! That's how they get a chance to survive, by being adorable. Them and pug puppies. No reason to let them live, but they are too cute to kill. Incidentally, that's how I got my first bunny. Dad mowed over a nest, and I had a new pet. Even he couldn't kill baby bunnies, and he was a hard, mean, austere stoic man.

I was up early, getting ready in case it actually dries out today. Stuff to do! No possum further visitation after the harmless pellet pistol and (obviously) severe tongue lashing I punished him with yesterday. Everything seems intact and accounted for.

Hope y'all have a happy productive day.

Gosh I'm glad I don't have to deal with them. At least the deer you pretty much know what they leave alone until they get very hungry then all bets off.
No dead groundhogs by the electric fence but i really didn't expect any. My flowers out by the driveway are eaten down to just stems. Blast those varmints!

Two zucchini this year so far. Yes I'm excited about two zucchini. Last year I had zero due to aphids eliminating any and all plants in the garden. Last year garden was weed free well ok almost weed free, aphids everywhere. This year I'm letting the weeds grow. Very few aphids and so far pumpkin and zucchini are alive. The weeds are getting out of control though so I'll have to get the machete out soon. :lau

Watering, cleaned up the coop a bit. Stopped to watch the bees go flower to flower in the weeds. Going for compost to prep for the crepe myrtles and get some groceries.
Plants should be delivered today.

Question about greenhouse placement...obviously it needs to be in the sun, but would a little afternoon shade hurt? I expect it'll get darn hot in there because there's no window or any way to vent the thing :he
Should I cut a window? Make a vent in the top? Both? Neither?

Thanks guys!

That's what I did with mine. Had 1 adult and 2 - 3 young-uns. Never saw any bodies except for the last one, so I think they went into their holes to decompose. I've been getting a GH infestation every spring for the past 3 years.

Can you vent it by opening one door? Does it have 2 doors? If so, you can get good draft going through, even if you have to then block doors off with a "screen door" to keep chickens and such out. You must have ventilation, even in the cool weather. The afternoon shade... what kind of tree(s)? Do trees loose leaves in winter? In which case, shade would be welcome in the summer, and a non issue in the winter.

The other day I wished for a soaker rain since things were getting pretty dry around here. Well today we got a real frog strangler. Power just came back on and we are just settling in for the night. It's ironic that the day started out with the delivery of our new Generac back up generator. It is sitting in the box mocking us during the outage, but at least soon we'll have no more days or week long outages while the lines get fixed :yesss:. The garden gave us a nice lunch today and the storm gave us a beautiful sunset.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY...
I can almost taste the photo!
The panoramic shot..OMG:clap
5 star :)

Tree, where it grows best, but can be a shrub.
I make lots of stock, beef/chicken for other recipes. & use bay leaf in bunches of other stew types. We crock pot cook a lot. Have more energy in the mornings and preparation is done and at night when my feet start to drag, the main course is done.

So.. Anyway.. I plan on planting sweet bay now. Location is the only mystery. I want it closest to the kitchen as possible but protected from the 2 harsh seasons. Sounds like a shrub that will stick around for a few years so planting in a seasonal garden location doesn't sound advantageous.
I have Scallions (green onion bases) that are 3 years old just out the back door. I trim them down to about an inch above the soil when needed & they shoot right back up again and again. Just like a lizard's tail.
Basically my intentions for the sweet bay.
A fresh reusable convenience plant.
Thanks for the schooling!
:)
