What did you do in the garden today?

Finally got motivated. My Christmas gift was a compost drum that spins...I ❤️ it... I've been adding kitchen scraps and dried Leaves. Cleaned rabbit cages today and put some fresh poop and not so fresh straw in there. Can't wait to see how it works. Added poop and Leaves to raised beds getting ready for Spring..there is a compost bed under the rabbit cages. It will be great for the raised beds.
My Seminole pumpkins, winter squash and red potatoes are doing great.

Happy gardening to all !!!!

I was trying something new this year, instead of using organic tomato fertilizer, I went with General Hydroponics Maxi Bloom and I just realized that 2lbs of organic tomato fertilizer is way cheaper. I will switch to water and add organic fertilizer around the plants.

My plants finally set some fruit; I was getting worried since I have been spraying them with dawn soap to control the insects. I started off with neem oil and then read that it may affect setting fruit, and it did.

Notice how I strung the base together with a 3/8 poly tube and the stacked 5-gallon reservoir. The bottom 5-gallon bucket has a float valve that keeps the liquid level right below the plant base. The challenge with this system is leveling the base. However, if those planters were brand new without any holes, I wouldn't need the base, I could attach the 3/8 poly tube directly to the planter, and leveling wouldn't need to be precise.

The struggling rice plants growing in the end container is not getting enough sunlight. I will switch it out with some lettuce.

The tomato plants under the white mesh are healthy and just started kicking out some flowers. I bought only two nylon mesh from amazon to try them out. It takes some effort to set it up, but it has been keeping the insects out, so I am happy with my purchase. However, it does impede air flow, so I may need to spray my tomato plants with a milk or fungus solution on a weekly schedule.

Another benefit that I notice is the white mesh leaves a shadow when the sun passes through it, so tomato plants that struggle to set fruit in the heat will probably do better under the mesh.
