My volunteer cherry tomato plants are setting round fruits. I am praying for anything other than everglade tomatoes. I really hate that plant, its invasive and the fruit doesn't taste good to me.
I found that the best way to serve large 5lbs Tilapia at family gatherings is to make sweet sour fried fillets with them. Otherwise, no one will eat them.
A couple of years ago, I bought one of these stall rakes, lined it with hardware cloth, and added some tin along the front edge to create a shovel edge. I use it to sift the chicken poop out of the sand on the floor of my coop. Well last weekend the scoop portion broke off from the handle. I could pay $30 for a new one but didn't feel like re-doing all the other modifications so I'm just using the scoop alone by holding it on the sides... And it actually seems to work better that way although bending over is a bit of a pain. Still got all 3 coops cleaned in under 2 hrs. It usually takes me 2 hrs just to do the main coop!
Been browsing homemade seed starting mixes on YouTube. This year doesn’t matter so much, because the fungus gnats are already entrenched, but assuming the beneficial nematodes take care of those I’m going to want something bug-free going forward. I’m tired of getting bug infested every time I plant something indoors, and the bagged stuff near me always seems to have it.
53 today, snow tomorrow - typical
I fertilized the grapevines today.
Other than that, I worked on moving this massive Finnish loom to the lower level studio. I'm waiting on more specialized tie-up cording. Then she'll be done.
I also have a Thor, Odin (one eyed from birth), and Delmar in addition to Freya.
Well, I cleaned out like 5 of 97432+ raised beds in the garden... Tore up the grass in the garden area by driving the Kei truck in there with it being so wet. We've had almost 8 inches of rain this month.
I didn't get anything done in the garden today, but three more boys are in the bachelor pad and the remaining two are walking on eggshells after seeing me capture their brothers.
One is definitely going to freezer camp, but the others just need some time to grow up.
one forecast says rain all day, another one says sunny day. who is telling the truth? I desperately need to wash some staff, at least 4-5 loads (I am off grid and don't use washing machine on little sun days). need to buy some feed as well. a few coops are heavily flooded but cannot do anything about it. finishing 2 geese coops must be done as soon as possible. when I move african geese and khaki campbell ducks to the new coop they'll have a gate to the big orchard/garden area. hopefully they will weed it for me.
