What did you do in the garden today?

Hens havnt laid since Oct sometime. Had 2 hens squat yesterday/today. I have collected 3 eggs so far this week. :wee
My 5 hens aren't laying either, I see only two eggs every so often. However, I found a nest of rotten eggs in the bushes before, so I am not quite sure what they are up to. I leave my coop open 100% of the time, maybe I should lock them up for a week to see if they are hiding their eggs.

Rant or pet peeve. Being diabetic my doctor said I should eat at regular times. I chose 7 AM noon and 5 PM. Noon and 5 PM are favorite times for women to call my wife and interrupt our meals. These calls last 1-2 hours. Today 1 call from 4 until 5:10. Next one 5:40 and still going. Speaker phone and these women talk loud.

Our house phone is off ALL the time, and the cells are set to DND at meal times. It's automatic and I don't have to even think about it.
Anyone that calls at meal times gets the answering service or can leave me a text. I'll get to it after.

That would be a pet peeve for me too. I let it go to msg unless it's someone I had been trying to get ahold of for a while.
Back before answering machine much less caller ID. I would answer and tell them I would call back after dinner.

Remember when you couldn't turn off the ringer on the phone, or unplug it? Your choice was:
Answer it;
Let it ring, unanswered;
Take the "phone off the hook."
It's been a while. Our 1968 house phone has a ringer switch, so it stays in the off position. If that phone ever gets called the call goes to my email. (I rewired the phone to work with modern phone hardwiring)
and my childhood house phone before that had a switch that cut off the incoming call between the wall and the phone so it wouldn't ring.
THAT phone never got switched off as Dad was on call even at home, and even though he carried a pager, a brick in a bag, and had a hardwired auto phone in his car. LOL
I swear, I was the only kid growing up in the early 70s that was always reachable.
