What did you do in the garden today?

We harvested the red bartlett pears and McIntosh apples before the crows got them all. Pear jam and apricot applesauce on the menu soon. Smoked some trout (alder and cherry wood) for lunches this week.
We're heading up to Columbus tomorrow with our solar telescope to host an eclipse event. My wife does astronomy and beekeeping classes. I'll be the photographer.

Yes, we had two Oscars, both found homes. Big guys, about 8-10" long, brought in because the college student was moving and had no way to keep them.

@chickmom3941 Im not that into the eclipse thing either. Not my first one, and iirc I'll be seeing one much more complete where I live in about 4 years. It's cool, but not worth me traveling to see or anything.

I am amazed at the zoo this eclipse has created. I don't remember them creating this much buzz in the past, but we are a more media driven world now. To me there are other more interesting celestial and atmospheric events such as Aurora borealis or a nice sunrise/sunset. But these classes help keep us in chicken crumbles and we can educate folks and keep a few of them from frying their retinas!

A noble mission and a good idea!

That's what I'm going to do. Probably on iPad though.
The only time I was in Virginia everthing was so green I thought gosh it must rain here all the time. Humidity wasn't so bad if I remember correctly. Guess I was there on a good day.
I think this is unusual weather for here.

So many people may have just this one opportunity to see a total eclipse in their lifetime. I love it, wish I was somewhere I could see it in person but not traveling to do so.
Trying to convince hubs to play hookie with me today though, and not to work in the garden. I'm feeling better today, but Saturdays work was yesterday's aches and moving so slow...it's almost embarrassing lol. It's humid out too, just not doing it today.

Another hot, sticky day. Still working on the coop. I want to plant more seeds. Maybe tonight. 20170821_120502.jpg
