What did you do in the garden today?

where I lived before a limited number of poultry only was allowed. I sold my house and moved to the country. never regretted.
I would love to do what you do, move to the country and have my rooster, just a few ....as long as my chicken math allow it.

When I was younger, I wanted to move to the country, but I was young, just started out in life, jobs are in the city. Now I am older, need to be closer to the big hospital and specialists. Take a leap of faith....too much fear. 😄

I did have 4 garden beds, but I no longer grow anythings as the weather is so bad & too much insects eating everything. Whatever left in there are growing on their own, surviving what nature gives them.

There are actually 5 seasons. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Mud. View attachment 4043976
I can relate...

Yes several of my friends retired to the country and ended up selling from health issues. One is still there but no drs close can do the operation. Had to go to another state. Fire department is a half hour away.
Lots to think about before that leap of faith.

65% of the counties in my STATE don't even HAVE a pharmacy! Talk about spread thin. If duct tape and super glue and some Windex don't fix it, it's not getting fixed.

I think I'm doing so well is because I avoid doctors and pharma. Only time I need a Doc is to get stitched up or have a cast put on. Duct Tape is the best band aid, in place of Windex I use denatured alcohol, if it burns it works. :old

Early in the morning before the sun came up, I checked on my
Kratky "Invincible" Roma tomato buckets and they look perky. Then I checked again at high noon, and they were wilted. I had to put up a 40% shade cloth to save them. The sun beats down on them from the left.

My Coral indeterminate grape cherry with thin skin isn't affected by the sun and begun to flower.

It is often on the news here that the country towns are being forgotten, not enough services.
I am living in the city and my knees specialist is so busy that it takes 2/3 weeks to get an appointment.
Yesterday I sat in my car for 2 straight hours driving & my legs went numb, I can not drive long distances.
Moving to the country is beautiful, peaceful & be with nature, but at an older age it is very hard.
I still dream about it though. The sun rise, sky filled with stars, vast spaces, the sound my rooster/s crowing.

Yes, and garden, growing my own vegetables and orchard of fruit trees. Have chickens run around, ducks, and bees....so I dream of it.
