What did you do in the garden today?

All the crepe myrtles appear to be alive so far. Too early to see any results with the rose bush. When I water on Weds I'll give the epsom salts.
The ants appear to have vacated the coop after a couple of good wetdowns.
Got up early and dug out the last of a flower bed before work. All the old roots and junk are gone, found more rocks  Still have some dirt to move too.
Planning to work on the compost pile, there's some bigger branches in there that need cutting down and it needs stirring.
I'm avoiding the pavers as long as possible.

We worked cow pairs this morning, sorting out 18 calves old enough to wean and sprayed the cows and calves with a oil spray for flies. We like to put calves in a pasture right next to the one with their moms so they can visit thru the fence while weaning. It is less stressful on the calves.

Pushed the gas powered string weed whacker in the yard and garden today....around all the fences, around trees, the raised garden beds, the stone edged flower beds and the barn and pens...grass was 18 inches high in places. I had been mowing every 4 days with all the rain we had been getting, but didn't do the edging on my usual schedule of every other mowing. Took me 3 hours. I'm pooped and in my recliner with my heating pad. Hubby just brought me some ice cream....such a sweet heart!

That's an incredible haul.

Today, I pulled poison ivy by hand until the deer flies started buzzing me. Have showered with liquid dawn, sent my clothes to the laundry room. Will wash them in bucket of hot water with soap and ammonia before they go into the washer. Tools have been scrubbed down with dawn. Next step, go out in comfortable clothes and get some layers of cardboard down over those spots, followed by leaves and wood chips. Those vines have traveled about 8', since I tackled that spot about 2 months ago.
 not cool!
I've never encountered pi. Must be lucky IDK.
My brother has many times fishing. The worst he had was when he must have got it all over his hands, and well eventually must have went to the 'bathroom' (cause it was on his 'you know what') well eventually he figured it out and was a hurting unit :lau

Only thing I like habeneros in is pickled eggs. Any other peppers the heat just doesn't cut it, disappears. Though in my pickled habenero eggs I also add serrano and jalapenos cause I like their flavor they just don't have the necessary heat, and the three together makes nice colors in the jar. Habeneros are so sweet and citrusy, and raw ... no way, sooo burning hot...
Great in pickled eggs though.

I got a really bad case of it when camping in SC. I woke up the next day and my eyes were swollen shut. Had to take steroids for a week. A whole bunch of doctors came to look at me, said it was the worst case they had ever seen. Husband didn't get it.

It is now known as the TOMATO SAUCE SAGA..
I never did sauce in a crock pot before.. Always stove top. Cubed and dumped into my jumbo oval crock at about 1:30ish.. Photo taken 5 mins ago at 6:40ish..View attachment 1123472
Since then it only reduced less than an inch from the rim. It was overflowing and over filled to start.
Much longer than stove top cooking at equal time length. So I am going to leave the lid off for a short while to speed reduction.
Fixing to add my other ingredients but need more water to evaporate first. I don't what my fresh basil to evaporate too.
So the saga continues..
The sand man just kicked my butt. 12:12 am and only 2 inches reduction so far.. Lid back on and turned to simmer setting so I can Shuteye.
Next batch will be stove top or dutch oven like in tje past. They say, the longer they simmer/reduce, the more richness and flavors come together. I added fresh basil, bay leaf and minced garlic. I guess it is all up to the smoke detector now, to warn me of failure.. hehe. I got up at 5:45 today.. That is all a can do for one day... More photos in the a.m. Good night all!

got poison Ivy real bad on lower legs I was about 11 real bad stuff
calamine lotion sure helped
I find calamine helps when it is wet but the effect seems to wear off after that. We also have Virginia creeper which i am also allergic to. I find Ivyarrest works better than calamine.
