What did you do in the garden today?

I find calamine helps when it is wet but the effect seems to wear off after that. We also have Virginia creeper which i am also allergic to. I find Ivyarrest works better than calamine.
I find that taking an ice cold shower before applying the lotion helps. The cold water closes your pores and the ivy doesn't spread as much. Just go to the potty before the cold shower.. lol..

The sand man just kicked my butt. 12:12 am and only 2 inches reduction so far.. Lid back on and turned to simmer setting so I can Shuteye.
Next batch will be stove top or dutch oven like in tje past. They say, the longer they simmer/reduce, the more richness and flavors come together. I added fresh basil, bay leaf and minced garlic. I guess it is all up to the smoke detector now, to warn me of failure.. hehe. I got up at 5:45 today.. That is all a can do for one day... More photos in the a.m. Good night all!View attachment 1123736
Sorry about the sauce saga post length...
Never crock pot made it before, and find it rather interesting..
Last night before I fell asleep, I put the lid on and turned it on low. This pic shows the new level of volume..

Finally getting some texture. I have always made this exact sauce on stove top on average of 8 hours. Crock pot is on the second day!
They say the slower the reducing, the more the flavors come together..
I am curious if it will go the entire 24 hrs..
The basil smell has filled our home.. That's a good thing.. (Martha Stewart) hehe.

I am doubling the garlic, smash then minced. More basil! Tiny pinch of oregano.

Lightly use a Immersion Blender, not too much. I like it a little chunky..

after a short blend on a pulse, added fresh diced onions. Spoon stirred.
Taste test much better. Lid back on and back to the animals!

I got a bout of motivation and bought some new plants. I decided to plant them in the veggie garden but I need more room so I decided to move the fence. Then I decided to move it out more....it's kind of half up at the moment so the girls have to stay inside until I fix it. I got some new fencing which hopefully will keep them out. I've got 2 layers of fence at the moment because one bright spark realised she could fit through the holes in the trellis.... this new stuff they can't walk through.

Moving the fence is a project and a half! You have your work cut out for you..
We took our garden fence down til next season. The goats are enjoying the unfamiliar territory.
What kind of plants did you get?

Oh,no, it's not a "proper fence", it's just expanding bamboo lattice attached to wooden stakes. It's quite temporary. Outside that, I've got an Omlet net fence. The new stuff is just plastic lattice, also easily removed/moved. It's just around the veggie garden, it's not that big an area.

Salvias, lots of salvias, a couple of penstemon, achillea and the lady gave me an eschscholzia

@potato chip I love salvias! Did you get one color or multiple?
I went to get some Indigo Spires. I also got one known as Marine Blue, a mexican bush sage, some absolutely gorgeous bright pink one I didn't get the variety of (but I'll ring them up to ask), another whitish/pale pink one (could be common sage? not sure about that one either)
