oral. We don't have poison ivy or poison oak here, but I come out in a rash if I touch grevillea (and sometimes other plants). You can get a variety of topical creams that contain local anaesthetic and they can really help with itchy rashes. I can't tell you any brand names that you might find over there, but if you ask at the pharmacy, they should be able to give you something.

Zyrtec is oral. I was wondering if it would help with itch from PI/PO. Just a thought. I get hives every day and it helped control my itch for quite a few years.

Benadryl has both oral and topical options.

One more reply to your post on a coincidental note..
Last night we made home made tacos, the only sauce we had was a habanero sauce, which was wow flaming hot!
I had a platter of cubes of watermelon on the table as a treat to go along with dinner, never with tacos before. Anyway, when the habaneros start to bother your taste buds, a watermelon cube instantly extinguishes the heat. COMPLETELY.. 1 cube.. More that any bottle water does!
I think it was neutralising the properties of the pepper..
Just thought I would share that little tid bit. I thought about your post last night when my mouth was on fire..
I wish I paid more attention to my chemistry teacher back in the day...

I don't think my chemistry teacher ever talked about food and chemistry.

I have two watermelons left in the garden. The other two were donated to the chickens by my helper. **

The cold weather is helping my kale grow and the potatoes leaves are wilting. A lot of stuff wilting due to the cold.

Started training the turkeys to use a ramp to go from their turkey house to the run. Only one of ten were successful in getting it right the first time. I should have more luck with the next training session.

Any day I can see progress in the garden/on the land/with my animals, it's a good day!

** Note to self - don't get stung so the helper doesn't harvest onions and peppers and other goodies for self and doesn't donate juicy watermelons and other juicy goodies to the animals. No wait, it's not a biggie. Someone else cleaned pooped that day. I can give up some goodies if I am not cleaning poop. So well worth the price paid!!!
