What did you do in the garden today?

Our feed store also received a 250 chick order that was all dead due to cold weather... That was earlier in March I believe.... But they said the hatchery would not be sending replacements. They simply had to wait for the next scheduled shipment.

Sad....

That's what they do here, but those that reserved, which isn't allowed everywhere, are held first.

I planted my tomato seeds today, all from tomatoes I grew in the garden last year. Hope they produce well.

I'm going to pick up my new chicks tomorrow. I'm really excited to have some new chicks. I feel bad for all of the little ones that didn't make it due to weather.

I have 2 puppies a new home and they're not even ready to go. Our son wants Mohawk and a neighbor wants a female.

I stopped in the local TSC (not for chicks) and they had just put out the chicks they got that morning. 3 people were there to buy chicks, and the attendant thought they'd all be gone by day's end. I'd guess they had 60-80? there.

Oh, the siren song of cuteness!

The deer are trying really hard to kill my young Honeycrisp sapling. They've eaten off all the flowers and broken off quite a few branches in the process.

That really pisses me off too! Why can't they browse on stuff that doesn't matter to me?

I would have no trees if I didn't encircle them with fence. I use 2x3 welded wire fence and put a ring around the tree, far enough out that the deer can't reach any branches.

I had to do the same thing with all the trees/bushes I spent $$$ on for the honeybees.

Here too. I got totally fed up last year and put huge ring fences around my trees.
