What did you do in the garden today?

Got up early to beat the wind, which in Nebraska is a trick, to spray the pasture. DA*^ bindweed still.
I can only spray the pasture and spot spray problem areas with the wand anywhere else for it. The stuff is a menace.

Next year I'll start even earlier. I was putting together a new ATV sprayer for it so I can do more, faster. I can't use it all over the pasture as I have a alfalfa field, clover field, and the lawn for the house is grass clover and this stuff eats clover. So nope.

I need to get in and hoe around the tomatoes and see if they need tied again.

I managed to get the rest of my backyard mowed yesterday afternoon. About a half hour later it started raining again. We got a bit of a break this morning and I was able to get some weed whacking done in the old hen’s yard and then the pathways in the big garden. I’m hoping to get a break to do some garden work this afternoon. In the meantime I’m working on laundry and bread making.

Slice the zucchini into steaks and grill.. or cube and put in a skewer for kabobs! Yum!
That sounds good! I wasn't considering that before but might be a great idea. Thank you! Since I have 2 of them, I'm thinking about using one to make chocolate cake. 😋

I made some zucchini flour last fall when I had huge zukes at the end of the season. I, uh, haven't made anything with it...
Didn't even use it as a thicker for stew or something?
I do stuff like that too 😜

I went to check up on my chicks that I placed outside for the first time, and I think they will be okay. I saw them fly up and down and play on the high perch. I will leave them outside tonight. But I will bring them in if they are crying and pressing against the chicken wire on the ground.

Put things in the pen for chicks to hide under or hop onto like a log, an old chair, an old blanket rack, a cabbage head hanging from the roof, anything to keep them busy to not get bored. They are smarter than people think & need to be stimulated while learning about the world. A plastic tub filled w/ play sand is a fun dustbath. We had Dominique chicks that thought it fun to bathe in their chick grit dish!

Just playing with photos.
Project breeding is a lot of time & work. I commend you for your dedication for such a lovely breed of chicken. We loved our Blue Wheaten who had a lovely sweet temperament.
