What did you do in the garden today?

I planted some Brussels sprouts and broccoli.

Here is my amazing labeling job. Guess which it is for

It looks like blossom end rot to me which is caused by lack of calcium
Yeah, I think that’s it and I have to amend the soil, but in the meantime, there’s a quick fix. Apparently I can spray them with calcium chloride.(or calcium nitrate but that’s not the best choice if there’s already a lot of nitrates in the soil, which there is because my compost is made from a lot of chicken poop mixed in with vegetables and straw and etc and it did have a good six months to breakdown but still probably high in nitrates) There are products on the market. I am trying to find out though, if it’s safe around the geese because the vines are strolling into the geese area.

What you can do is bake eggshells for 10-15 minutes in the oven at 350°f then crush them up and sprinkle it all over the soil around the plant. If the soil is loose the mixing it into the top few inches of soil can make it available a bit quicker but if it’s not loose then I wouldn’t want to damage the roots

I made zucchini flour out of my end-of-season monsters.
I’ve made really good zucchini bread with a 2.5 pounder but I’m not sure how well something double that size would do. I may out one loaf as that would only be 1/3 of one of them and depending how that turns out I may either shred it and freeze or try doing what you did.

What if I can grind them into a powder and then soak them in water and use that water to water them

My dad and my brother always would let their zucchinis grow baseball bat huge they thought that was normal size lol

Think you're making out better with your system than I am with mine. I paid cash, but because I'm retired never made enough on social security to use those tax credits. Our electric company can pay us whatever they want for the electric I produce, and over the years they've lowered it and lowered it and lowered it. Makes a big difference where you live, doesn't it.
I got lucky because the Arkansas state legislature passed a law requiring the electric companies to pay citizens the exact same cost for net-metered electricity as they charge consumers. Of course, the electric companies pitched a fit but the bill passed anyway. I'm betting they are still lobbying to get it overturned or rescinded but for now... It has allowed me to avoid paying ANY money to them at all. They simply "bank" my total kW and then deduct our usage from it. We always produce way more than we use... After 2 years of banking those totals, they are required to zero it out and send me a big fat check.
