Ok. I looked it up and it's pokeweed and it's highly toxic. So I will have to dig it out at the roots

I just looked and it germinated faster than any of the cucumber seeds I bought this year

I don’t think so, Japanese beetles are not nocturnal and don’t seem to hide in the dirt, plus they stick their hind legs up when disturbed and are shiny. These guys scuttle around pretty quick when disturbed and are dull.

Maybe Asiatic garden beetle.

Agree, this is pokeweed and is poisonous. I think just touching it can cause some illnessWe have it all over the perimeter of our property and run into constantly chasing the chickens, mowing, etc. other than staining clothes I’ve never noticed any health issues.

Have to boil and change the water several times to get rid of toxins.
Birds can eat the seeds with no issues. That's how it spreads everywhere. Toxic to mammals

Yup that looks to be it! Never noticed such an issue with these things, usually it’s the Japanese beetles that are a big problem but they haven’t been too bad this year.
