Oh! Super news, the Contractor that is building our porch is giving us a great deal on building my goat shed. Gives me more time for the garden!

Finally finished cleaning, planting, mulching, and putting deer netting around the flower bed at the west end of the house. We went to the town compost site Saturday to get a load of wood chips for that project. The truck was half loaded when hubby checked out some paper leaf bags that someone had dumped in a different pile. They were full of Valley Hemlock mulch. So, those 5 bags came home with us and I used them to skim coat the wood chips on that flower bed. Still have some oriental lily bulbs and daffodil bulbs to plant, and a tri-colored mum. But... one more project finished.

Unbelievably hot today. Got up to around 85*. Brutal with that sun beating down on me.

All time high egg count today. 19. The BA girls are laying. Good sized egg for a new layer. Very dark egg, almost terra cotta with dark freckles. I think I really, really like this breed.

Yeah, i don't think he would travel that far. And he figured the materials wrong so he came up with a higher number. Still getting it done because neither of us are getting any younger. We have been out clearing off bushes, trees and debris that is in the way. I had to come in twice and wash hands and arms after touching Virginia creeper. Going to burn a pile of stuff after supper. Smores!

we still have major burn ban in effect all over the state right now still
we have them in compost we keep turning... I do have bread of the regular and sourdough versions rising 2 loaves each

Husband keeps finding mystery plants. This one looks like the seed pod is from an alien planet! Any one familiar with this?

I am sitting in the build site for the new goat shed burning debris to get rid of it. Husband came up and offered a flashlight, but i have my cell so i am fine. Actually, i am sure i could walk it in the dark. Not far to the driveway.
