What did you do in the garden today?

well took house dogs out then the pyrenees pup snow and old gsd bad news putting plastic chairs in the barn realized snow had found a chicken out and proceeded to play tag the wrong way had her down fast I go after her no wrong answer me on my knees try to stand only to fall again managed to get her from snow back in coop clip her wings check her over let her go

Finally finished cleaning, planting, mulching, and putting deer netting around the flower bed at the west end of the house. We went to the town compost site Saturday to get a load of wood chips for that project. The truck was half loaded when hubby checked out some paper leaf bags that someone had dumped in a different pile. They were full of Valley Hemlock mulch. So, those 5 bags came home with us and I used them to skim coat the wood chips on that flower bed. Still have some oriental lily bulbs and daffodil bulbs to plant, and a tri-colored mum. But... one more project finished.

Unbelievably hot today. Got up to around 85*. Brutal with that sun beating down on me. .

All time high egg count today. 19. The BA girls are laying. Good sized egg for a new layer. Very dark egg, almost terra cotta with dark freckles. I think I really, really like this breed.
BA? Black Australorp? (sorry I'm not very good figuring out all the breed abbreviations used on this site). We have two black australorps, and they are great birds! They seem very hardy, lay quite a few eggs, and one of them is Bertha, our mama hen who goes broody every summer. She's a great mama and still taking care of her adopted chicks at 7.5 weeks old.

Wow well I would say be careful but I would have done the same. We don't have outside dogs anymore the two inside dogs don't amount to half a dog so any chickens would send ours on the run.
If you include my mil two dogs they still don't make half a dog. :lau

Um
, what are possum grapes?
A wild grape that grows up the tree canapy...about 1/4 inch in diameter.

Lucky you! My husband does help but he's broken right now so all me for a while.

How about laundry?
When my hubby cooks, he uses every pan and doesn't clean up as he cooks....I end up cleaning up after him. He does help with laundry once in a blue moon.

Husband keeps finding mystery plants. This one looks like the seed pod is from an alien planet! Any one familiar with this? View attachment 1145310
Would love to get some seed to the strawberry bush!

The heat is going back up to 100 again :he I'll be out there watering and digging/spreading dirt tomorrow. Have a load of rocks to move first, just dump and spread out. I'm using paper feed bags underneath to keep the weeds down.
Bought some bird netting to keep the buggars off the grass seed that's going in over the weekend for the dog yard.
Making some art projects with the boys tomorrow afternoon using the rest of the feed bags and will hang in the coop. The kids love to use mod podge!
Off to work:sick
Have a good day all :frow

I have an emergency!!!!! I have severe Allergies to bugs. I go into anaphylaxis at the sight of a bee.

Yesterday I was working in a wood pile left by the previous owners. Mainly because it has a swamp of nasty water underneath and I don't want the ducks to get in it. I lost my balance and my arm went through to the bottom and I disturbed a mosquito nest. Well EPI-PENS to the rescue.

I started Steroids and bendryll. I took a Vinegar bath. I'm still ICHY ICHY ICHY!!! ANY IDEAS???? I have bites all over. And I mean all over:barnie:he
Dr. Unfortunately is not an option
