I remember this place I lived in about 10 or so years ago had the thickest blackberry growth in the back yard. I decided to clear it out one day and found a stunted apple tree. Lol. Couldn't even see it before. Curious to see how your trees turn out as well. Keep us posted.

thank you , they grow wild all over the us but I never noticed them until 3 years ago. I will post pictures here in a month when the leaves are full , it will have a perfect lush canopy and little edible berries all over, you can sit under it and nobody can even see you it will be so full. It is pretty much the first thing to bloom here, lets you know spring is really here , it starts blooming about the same time as the ornamental pear .

Alldembirds thank you for the picture it gives me hope-) Been over 92 days since last time it was 50* here 10* below average norm for this time of year. Yellow Pair tomatoes will grow when scattered been three year since I planted them still coming up all over. Good thing the rabbits like them.

Just checking up on the seed sprouts this afternoon and I noticed that we appear to have a few small gnat like creatures on them. I'm not sure if I should spray some neem oil on the plants, because the gnats don't appear to be hurting the plants at all. They are small (about 1mm long), black, with mostly clear wings. Slow clumbsy fliers, and they mostly are hanging out on the dirt, not on the plants themselves. Any ideas? Should I spray them or just leave them be?

Those are called fungus gnats. the larva can cause problems on the roots, they can get to be real problems in production greenhouses.
We use something called gnatrol...

It probably would not be worth the cost, ...maybe take them outside during the day for some fresh air and sunshine, and return them to your greenhouse-or window sill in the evening.
If you can get the yellow aphid sticky traps, that might help. or get a yellow or white plastic lid and put corn syrup on it, it should act like a sticky trap. some people have luck with corn oil.
