What did you do in the garden today?

So that's how I'll convince DH we need goats... Weed removal...
Seriously Id like a few for that reason.

We cleared the ground with goats and then moved pigpens around for a while and after that we raised five head of beef on it. We only had enough ground for two head at a time and now we have 4 goats. They are in grass over their little heads.

We have two pygmies and two Nigerian pygmy crosses. Two billies and two nannies. We named the pygmies Billy and Nanny and w haven't named the other two yet. They all love attention and the two Billies like to be petted. The girls not so much. They are getting fat.

One of these days I'll get pictures...promise.

That are still green

But very happy

I laid rolls of sod in the areas where the grass will not recover from winter wear and tear from the animals. For now it looks nice. They'll take care of that eventually.

Finally got some planting done. Jalepeno, Bell peppers Cucumber, beafsteak tomato with marigold companion plants and a red cherry tomato. We're heading into town here in a few minutes to purchase some more plants and some fish for the tank. Will also be starting some seeds tonight, probably kale, spinach, cauliflower, broccoli and lettuce. We've been told that you can't grow these things in region 8b during the summer but I want to try them in the aquaponics system anyway. We'll save some seeds for fall sprouting in case this doesn't work.

Mulched my blueberries and trimmed off all the branches affected by some sort of punky "witches broom" type of fungus or virus. Any body else have fungus issues with blueberries?

Congrats RichnSteph on getting your bed planted. What kind of fish?

transplanted herb assorted seedlings into 4" pots and peppers seedlings into 6 packs. Mostly jalapenos and tri colored bells. I did it until my arms hurt. Planted snap and snow peas out into the bed yesterday. Harvested more asparagus but think this coming week will be the last of it.

Has anyone here ever grown melons in a green house?
