What did you do in the garden today?

Jerry, got three mulberry planted about 30-40 feet apart and surrounded by chicken wire and brush to keep the deer from eating your hard work. Trees are already about 5 feet tall!!! Did have a look at a volunteer among the wild rose tangle......looks like a mulberry based on the leaves fallen at the base.

Keeping two potted apple trees potted so they can be in the cellar at grafting time...fingers crossed on this project.

Started 4 varieties of tomatoes in hopes of having fruitful plants in the windows by January.....another trial effort. Seeds are on the LG incubator for warmth.

Good to hear .

I went to my local pharmacy yesterday. Yep... I scavenge stuff for my needs from the pharmacy! They often have styrofoam coolers available (make a great beginning to an incubator). But, yesterday, I asked the pharmacist to save silica packets for me. Of course she had to ask what I wanted them for. I told her that I need them to pack seeds. She was more than happy to put up a note for me. Plan to pick them up on Friday. Her statement: "There will be a lot of them. Do you want them all???" "Yep, sure do!" Why do anything half way? If I'm gonna scavenge, I do it big!

Here is my make shift cold frame lazy gardener do you think this will work for the winter?

I packed pine straw on top of the strawberry bed. But we did not get any leave up yet to put around the pool. I hope they will be ok.

Based on your cold frame pic, I'm not sure what I'm seeing. The roof of it needs to be sturdy enough that snow load will not collapse it. (If you get snow) If you don't get snow, it should be bowed up so that rain does not settle onto it and collapse it. It also needs to be secure enough that the wind doesn't grab it and take it sailing.
