What did you do in the garden today?

I haven't priced it for about 3 years. It was $8.50 then. I told them they could keep it. What about finding a local stable? Some stables use that crinkled shredded brown paper for bedding. That would be perfect, as it would have some nuggets mixed in. Most likely not enough to burn the plants. There are piles of that stuff in the compost area at my town dump. I love my dump!

Thank you lg.
I think we are going to just use our leaf vac and put the shredded leaves on top and around the kiddie pool. We usually put them in the chicken coop but we have tons of leaves. lol I may add some bunny droppings in the mix.

Honestly I had to ask my husband if our leaf vac chopped up the leaves. lol I just knew we usually put them in the chicken coop. hahaha
He told me it actually chops them up twice. Then I knew we could use them.

Got the garden covered with an inch or so of mulched leaves and have covered over the hoop structure there and will be using it for further leaf storage, as there was nothing growing there anyway.

Finally opened up the garden for the chicken's use and they are finding both things of interest, especially today when it's raining cats and dogs and the wind is blowing...they are taking shelter under that hoop.

Have filled the rings around the apple tree saplings with mulched leaves as well, leaving room for adding chicken compost and then will cover that with more mulched leaves as the leaf collection season goes along.

Also dumped a few bags of mulched leaves under the peach trees....it was badly needed there, as some new chickens I have scratched the ground bare under those trees. Will be adding more and more leaves there and under the rest of the fruit trees as I get my hands on more mulched leaves. Those are the treasure to be found for garden and orchard, whereas the whole leaves are what I'm collecting for coop bedding...where they will get scrunched down to mulch, where they too will be a treasure for the garden and orchard.

Dan, the weather is totally upside down. We've had an unseasonably warm fall.

Getting colder weather next week. The seeds planted in the hay bale cold frame are sprouting nicely. It will be good to see what comes up. It's been up to 100* in the green house during sunny days, even with windows open. Lettuce, kale, and chard crops standing well and being enjoyed in the kitchen. Undersowed seeds starting to sprout in spite of the intense temp fluctuations.

No takers of the chocolate chip offerings last night. Will re-set the traps, and cover them up tonight to make them more inviting.
