What did you do in the garden today?

I set out my Rutgers tomato plants, my green bell peppers, and zinnias. Now its time to mulch. I use pine straw and leaves because they are local and free. When I mulch the first time I run over the pine straw and leaves with my lawnmower. It makes a better mulch that way. Then I finish with regular pine straw.

Yesterday was our garden day... We got out our oregano, basil, rosemary, cilantro, tomatoes, squash, corn and peppers in our vegetable and herb garden and than planted a few plants around the chicken run. We'll see how those do... We have clay dirt which makes gardening pretty hard in certain areas.

I planted a few jalapeño starts in pots today and put a couple more tomatoes in the ground before the rain started. There was a half living rosemary plant in one of the pots I dug out so that's a fun surprise. As for the rest of it, I'm already impatiently waiting for fresh salsa.

The ladies wanted to help me out with the composting
