What did you do in the garden today?

I am going nuts smelling my crock pot aroma right now!!!
Big ole Chuck roast (our Black Angus)
Our carrots.
Our Potatoes.
Our onions.
Our peas.
Our bell peppers.
Our homemade beef stock.
OMG
Store bought celery..
I need more self control. If I keep sampling it, there won't be nothing left for dinner.

Cooked a 6 pound roast with potatoes, carrots, peppers, onions and garlic from the garden yesterday too....mine in the oven in a turkey roaster....shared with the extended family. Love the smell of a roast and veggies cooking.

I planted my first pumpkin a few weeks ago. I have never grown them but wanted to this year. I bought some Sugar Pie pumpkin seeds and only planted a few but only one in the garden. Also the fruit tree cuttings I took on June 1 are growing like crazy!

Yesterday all I did was pull a few weeds because we had visitors from Colorado to see my breed of chickens and was cooking for the family...one recovering from a stroke and the other in the hospital with multiple heart issues.

But today, Ive picked cucumbers for pickles, okra, peppers and eggplant. Will be moving the sprinkler every two hours.
Since the camera showed no activity in the garden and barn and since 9 adult raccoons and three youngsters along with one coyote have been killed just in the past 8 days.... it is safe to finally sort the pullets and cockerels in the barn brooder room and put them in the outside pens. I'm making new screen gates for two of the small coops so they can be used too. I bet there are 75 Columbian Wyandotte and 20 Cochin juveniles to sort.
It is going to be a hot day at 101 predicted so we will take many breaks and offer frozen treats to the birds.

Started my day quite late not really doing much looks like I may have lots of little peeps in the hova bator pretty quick the 25th... how has july happened so fast

Haha, igor, unfortunately it had to be done all at once so there weren't a lot of options. My sister has RA so if I'm not there to help her it won't happen. She can lift/carry and is strong but anything that requires her hand to grip tightly or frequently is very hard for her. Knot tying, scissor use, etc. is hard for her to do and yesterday was the only day I had available. Now I am very sore today. My back hurts especially. There was a lot of bending down happening. It kinda sucks because I do still have stuff to get done today. Guess that's what they made Advil for, amirite?

Karener, that might be because of the kind of tomatoes you're growing. Have you looked into that? What kind of tomatoes are you growing?

@CapricornFarm I'm sorry to hear about your pup. When HE and I combined our households, we each had a few "antique pets", and a couple of "vintage companions". We lost several to old age and ailments the first few years. Then we added a bunch all about the same time. We've lost another batch over the last year or so. Got to thinking that we are going to lose the yunguns all about the same time in a decade or so.

I know it's hard to let your pal go, but I'm confident you'll know when it's time and when it's best.

We lost several to old age and ailments the first few years. Then we added a bunch all about the same time. We've lost another batch over the last year or so. Got to thinking that we are going to lose the yunguns all about the same time in a decade or so.

I know it's hard to let your pal go, but I'm confident you'll know when it's time and when it's best.

Thankfully we do not have the humidity here so heat is not as killer although I admit I do handle the higher temps anymore any better than cold these days
