The trees here are so big many of them are probably a hundred years old. There is no pasture so I have nowhere to grow grain. But for sure no one has been using roundup here. The two properties that border us are raw land. Only two other families on our street and their land drains away from us. I am trying to grow things without cutting down all the trees. We had to have some removed to make a place for the sheds and a road to the river, but we saved the biggest ones.We selected land that had not been farmed, is far enough away from other farms to avoid drift, and is high enough not to get hit with run off, so yep, we were concerned for sure.
My mom doesn't get why we are growing "the hard way" - no chemicals, all natural, losing a tenth of what we grow in some cases. But you get it : )
It's pretty cool to control what you eat. In a year or two we'll be closer than we ever have been to that goal.
