What did you do in the garden today?

I've been chopping onions and bell peppers for making soup starter and storing them in the freezer. I've been sending tomatoes to our extended family and sharing with a few elderly neighbors who can no longer garden. I haven't had enough tomatoes to do any canning. Got a great deal on canning tomatoes from a local farm today...4 pounds for $1...I bought 4 boxes or 100 pounds....for $25.

After sorting red from orange, I canned 13 quarts, have tomatoes to share and still have two boxes of orange to ripen for canning on Saturday.
And, they will have more by Monday so I can make our chili sauce and taco sauce as well as more soup starter.

Going out now to give Susie her bottle.

We got everything done but the front wall wire up and the door hung before we had to stop. Went inside about 4:30. Hot and steamy after a mild cloudy morning and HE and I just wilted. Our original plans have changed a good bit, but I think for the better. So close! I'd hoped to have it all secure enough for the girls to stay there tonight, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Oh my those jars look magnificent! I started not skinning nor seeding my tomatoes before canning. I stew them with the other veggies and spices, then use my stick/emersion blender and poof! Thick sauce with all the vitamins and fiber I'd lose if I took away the skins and seeds. Especially great if I want to hide other veggies in there. Men and kids will rave about the tomatoe sauce, and never know they are getting all those healthy veggies.

Nothing in the garden the last few days but watering. Lemons are almost ripe, but I'm glad they're taking their time.

My son moved out :wee
I love that kid, but I'm so ready for some privacy. So housework, moving, and feeding mover friends has been my lot this last week. More this weekend to get done on that front.

With only lemons and hard labor waiting in the garden, I'll take the respite from the muggy heat a few more days. I can read about what you guys are doing and dream about the near future in my own yard :)

Have a beautiful day everyone!

@igorsMistress Oh yes! I'm living that dream vicariously through you now! HE's son moved back here to our spare bedroom with his wife (HE's DIL) about 4years ago. She moved to her MIL house (HE's ex-wife) 1 1/2 years ago when marital strife struck. Just moved back to her family up north about a week ago. Boy (age28) still holed up in his room here. They say they are not getting divorced, and hang out/go on dates. I'm confused. All I can do is keep my :duc and :fl the boy follows her back up north soon.

My laptop turned out to have "issues" so I had to return it. Ordered another one today. Using my phone for now. Harvested my 2 pumpkins. Watered the garden, picked a few cherry tomatoes, looked for bugs, noticed 3 sunflowers starting to come up:) hope the make it!
You already harvested pumpkins? Missouri's harvest season must be way ahead of Minnesota's! What kind of pumpkins are they? (I'm a HUGE pumpkin/winter squash fan)

Already been in the garden a few hours today, as usual. Slept in till almost 6am this morning. Still getting over my heat exhaustion of a few days ago, I guess. Biddies are out in temp run.

Hardware cloth is cut and ready to go on front of henhouse. Got that, painting of door, hanging of door, latch for door, clean up of area, installation of fittings and bedding to do and then it can be used for the girls at night. Will do finish work after that. So still not "Done", but will be "done enough for now".

Haven't done much in the garden itself, other than picking a couple of okra and cukes.
