What did you do in the garden today?

Need help with roses fellow gardeners. One bush is doing pretty good but got more water due to hose end blow out. It was planted early summer.
The second bush had a few green leaves but they've recently dried out. Canes are still green and supple. It was planted 4 to 6 weeks ago in Phoenix, AZ.
Think it's ok to feed the bush? It's months until any risk of frost here. If it lives it will be quite pretty with the crepe myrtles in that bed so I'd like to save it. TIA

I am no expert, but i certainly would try it. Can't see how it would hurt.

Still no news from Wink. I am worried about her. Hope everyone in the path of the storm stays safe.
Wink is in Arlington, Texas. Over close to Dallas. She will be getting rain for sure and some high winds as the storm stalls on land before moving back into the Gulf.
With all the rain she had before now, I bet her ground is saturated...the prospect of more means getting prepared.

I bet NorthTexasWink has checked the posts but may not have time to respond right now.
Our thoughts and prayers for Wink and those close to her.

If that rose were here, and First frost was months away, I'd give it some fertilizer. Do you have it mulched? Do you have any compost? Is it a grafted rose, or is it on it's own roots? Was it potted, or bare root? Did you inspect the roots before planting? How did they look? Good healthy, with white roots present? Or lack of live roots? Were the roots circling the pot? Have you been keeping it watered, faithfully? Most important is seeing to it that the roots don't dry out. When you fertilize/water it the next time, you might give it about 1 Tbsp of epsom salt, watered into the base of the plant. If you can give it about 1/2" of compost around the base of plant to drip line, followed by 2" of mulch, that will help the plant to retain moisture, and get well established, as well as give it a dose of compost tea every time it's watered. Keep the compost/mulch pulled back an inch or two from the base of the plant.

@lazy gardener I don't know if they are grafted but should be able to tell if i look at the plant if it's not too old, I'll look at it and see.
This rose was in the clearance section but looked pretty goo. It was in a pot, the roots were nice and healthy. Somewhat root bound, but I loosened them up. There was still active root growth. Dug my hole nice and wide, amended 1 part native soil with equal amounts compost and some garden soil. Mulched with composted mulch about 2 inches thick, same stuff I use on everything, but that has begun to break down a bit. I might have forgotten to give it some super thrive at planting which has helped tremendously with transplanting during the summer for many things.

The hole was previously amended with gypsum and had an aloe in it. Once the aloe started producing offshoots I dug it up and used the improved hole, ie bigger and deeper, for the rose.
I've been watering once a week, but it may not be enough I suppose.

Certainly going to try the epsom salts, thanks much for that suggestion. Should I fertilize in addition to that, or try one or the other?

Just thought of something my dad used to bury banana peels next to his roses. Best roses on the block. Hope the crepe myrtles do well.
