What did you do in the garden today?

Agreed. This pile will most likely not even get used at all this winter. As I use up the good dry stuff, the new stuff will be moved in for next year. Unfortunately, there is always too much winter prep work left at the end of the summer and fall season. Hubby works too many hours, and I can't do a lot of it (or won't do a lot of it) alone.

Having the winter supply full and ready BEF ORE winter makes me feel ready for another New England winter, as we never knowwhat is coming. Without a full supply, I feel scared and nervous...it is our winter heating after all.
I hear ya. It's always comforting to see the porch stacked high with rows of chopped wood. We put it out there in the fall for easy access to the wood all winter long. I've always thought Minnesota winters were about as bad as they come, but you guys on the East Coast have really been smacked hard by old man winter the last few years - much harder than we have!

Son piled leaves I picked up and used as deep litter in coops.
