What did you do in the garden today?

Some of you may remember I planted eleven strawberries sometime around last May. Well they went crazy and I’ve been dividing them up ever since. So far I’ve moved over 194 of them. I’m only half way through the bed :th I don’t even do anything special when or after I planted them. I barely even watered except when it didn’t rain for a month or two.
Good job, i will pm you my address...:gig

I hope you guys don't mind me joining you in the gardening chat!

Wow amazing strawberry growth! I need to do something with mine if it ever stops raining! Due to next week so I'll add thinning them to my list of things to do! I've only had a garden for 2 years so I'm still a total newbie and on a huge learning curve!

Last April we bought the old tobacco barn that is right next to our garden, it has given me a south facing wall in my garden :wee:clap I didn't do anything with it last year and it has ended up as a messy weed infested dumping area which was making me sad as my washing line is right there and DH cross as he can't get the mower / strimmer in. This morning before it started raining I've managed to weed, flatten, cardboard and thick shredded wood mulch about a metre out from the barn on half the length. I still have the other half to do but it has brambles and all sorts so wont' be as easy. I'm so pleased with the results - very clean and tidy! I also had a hack at some of my hibiscus bushes to tidy them up. The weather is meant to get a bit cooler but clear and sunny over the weekend and into next week so looking forward to getting lots done!
Bonjour et bienvenue!

Welcome, PouleChick! It sounds like a job for goats - do you have any, or know anyone you could borrow some from? They could probably clean your property up, and save you a lot of work!

Ok friends, here's a non-gardening, non-chicken post, but you're the ones I've been talking to, so I thought I'd ask.
So, my son is off to go skiing with his dad. Excellent. However, before he left, he apparently baked/broiled something in the oven that made an unholy greasy mess. I came home and pulled out a frozen pizza, because I am child free and get at least two slices to my self.
Then there was a fire. Yeah. I just didn't see how very very much grease and just general detritus there was. So, a minor crisis ensued. A fire extinguisher was involved. And my house is full of god-awful smoke. I have every window open and fan running, but I NEED to figure out how to get the smell out. The smoke wilk dissipate overnight but the smell---aauuugh! Anyone have ideas?

Yup. Baking soda! You can put some in a spray bottle with a few drops of peppermint and full of water. Shake vigorously; home made deoderizing spray. Small flat trays of baking soda set out where air circulates.

Boiling baking soda or a bit of ACV with citrus slices can help too. Or just make some sekanjabin. XD Good stuff.

[QUOTE. Havhlazy gardener, post: 19470878, member: 173150"]Got a crock pot? Put some vinegar in it and set it on low. Then sprinkle a box of baking soda in the oven. Open windows from TOP and bottom at both ends of the house. Stay safe. Perhaps we need to take away your cooking license!!! (JK... I've had near disasters myself, but never actually saw flames!!!)[/QUOTE]
Yes! I have one. Thank you! I hadn't eve thought he'd do anything with the oven, so I wasn't looking. Will be doing that now.
