What did you do in the garden today?

Have hubby give you a follow up lesson with the revolver. In the mean time, if you see the possum come back, you could go into attack mode with a sharp spade. Even better than that, get a live trap and catch him. I hear they are dumber than dirt.
I'm afraid of those nasty creatures, so wouldn't want to get close enough to get it with a spade, plus, I get grossed out pretty easily, too. A live trap would be good, but I think the one we have may be too small. One way or another, we need to get rid of it. I'm just worried that since there was one, there may be more?

As predators go possum are mild . Nothing like coons . They will not tear pens apart to get in . Not vicious just bluff . Grab em by the tail and hold them away . Tough to kill . You could not kill it with a spade . They will play dead and walk away later .

I killed a possum with a broom once!

Of course there will be more! And coons, hawks, owls, rats, and lions, and tigers, and bears. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Lol - ask a stupid question... What I meant wasn't really is there more opossums in the world, but like, do they live together in family groups, so that if we kill that one, there's more in the immediate vicinity? I watched it go under our porch, but don't know if that's where it lives.

Years ago, when we lived down south, one of our cats was killed right outside our house at night. We had good reason to believe it was an opossum that did it. The next night, our oldest son took out his fury on the first opossum that came into our yard, with a large stick. That opossum didn't leave the yard alive.
