What did you do in the garden today?

The wildflowers here are blooming! 20180410_141122.jpg 20180410_140523.jpg

In my garden today I went to see if anything finally sprouted. Have planted cabbage spinach lettuce and Kaleso far. Oh onions and garlic also. This was two weeks ago when it was 70° all the sudden we got a cold front with freezing temperatures and snow. Saul my spinach sprout today and and I’m hoping and praying the rest will sprout eventually. And I also did the same thing I do every year stared at my garden and wondered how I’m gonna fit everything I want to plant

I stare at my garden wondering that every year, too! "I think I need another raised bed" is an annual mantra around here. I've finally just admitted that I'm going to have tomatoes and pepper plants in the driveway. :D

Yesterday, I started putting up the deer netting around the CP fence in the garden. I did a rush job b/c the chickens were trying to out maneuver me to squeeze into the garden. So, the netting is loosely tacked in place with clothespins, a lot of the netting has last year's dried grass wound into it, and I need to trench the grass and weeds out from under it so they don't grow up through it as badly.

Need to plant some spinach and other greens over the old Wine Cap mushroom bed to keep it shaded. I hope the bed produces again this year. Time to plant peas, but need to set up a new area for them.

Still some snow over 1/2 of the garden and covering more than 1/2 of the lawn. The woods are also quite heavily covered still.

I'm still watering this morning, got started in the dark today. Dead headed a few things and pruned the neighbors oleanders and stacked for the garbage. They gradually grow over the wall and encroach on our bbq spot. Took a break, now headed out to clean up the patio and trim the potato bushes.
It was close to 100* yesterday and today is supposed to be the same. We have a cool down coming, thank goodness. We are building a temporary grass frame and I'm planting some grass for xeriscape areas this weekend along my patio. The neighbors oleanders are on that wall so I need something to suppress dust but doesn't need a lot of water.

Sorry to ramble on, have a good day :frow
