What did you do in the garden today?

Well the rabbit fence is working . No damage . Well that and I let the beagle patrol the garden sometimes .
Can’t let my 60 pound clumsy dog protect my garden. She’s constantly running into stuff at the house. Once everything is big I will let my cat patrol the area for mites. But it has to be big enough not to be rolled on

This is a Tomato plant that got rabbit manure in the hole when I planted it.

This is the same kind of tomato but it did not get manure. They are the same age and were planted at the same time. They are in the same bed so they have all the same conditions except the rabbit manure.

Well, the wife and I chased two wild piglets out of the garden and around the homestead for an hour. I took some roll fencing and connected one end to the corner of our pig pen. I rolled it out to a big "V" and we herded the two pigs in. Tammy closed the fence behind me and the pigs. I cornered them one at a time. When I grabbed them, you talk about kicking and squealing! I put them in with our two BIG domestic pigs (Sonny & Cher). Instantly, Cher bit at one of the piglets and that little piglet (about 35 lbs.) jumped up and attacked Cher's ears and cheak. There was a truce after that. They were fine this morning. That is what we did in the garden yesterday.

I had a Cooney Cooney/potbelly piglet just end up in my yard one day and now he lives here somehow but wild pigs glad they were an aggressive! Sounds like someone got territorial and then got put in their place Lol. Love The pictures.

I am now 62 years old. Every single year, at this time, I kick myself for not doing a good job labeling my seedlings. i always go into the season, saying: I'll do better. And I don't need to label this, because it's obvious what it is. I'll remember... Well, i did a good job labeling my tomatoes! (9 varieties!) Peppers, not so much. So, I had to plant almost all of them to be sure I didn't leave any variety out!

But, I grew a bunch of new to me plants, including a leaf cabbage. I also grew several varieties of broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage, and French sorrel. I got all of the brassicas planted. I really don't care what is what, nor id I even care that the same varieties were planted together, at this point b/c they all have the same growing requirements.

I was not impressed with the French sorrel. It tasted very bland, but I planted some anyways, figuring I could tuck it into salads and soups. Then, I had a 6 pack of something left over, had no idea what it was. It was sadly neglected, leaves showing all sorts of deficiencies, and starting to wilt from neglect. So, I tasted a leaf. Oh my goodness! So, THAT's what French Sorrel tastes like!!! It will go front and center along the fence line so I can pick it often for sandwiches and other meals!

So, I have no idea what the plant was that I thought was French sorrel. Perhaps Tat Soi? Perhaps some other Asian green. It has a pretty crinkly savoyed leaf and is a nice dark color. As an Asian green, it's pretty tasty!

So here is a handy idea . I use 3 gallon sprayers a lot . The hand pump type . Age convinced to get creative . I bought tire valves the type with a threaded nut . Drilled a 7/8 hole and installed the valve . So now I just air it up to spray . I watch the stream of spray while airing as you could blow it up I think . Anyway once I have a strong spray that is enough . I use about half then give it more air . Got tired of all that pumping from half empty on .
