What did you do in the garden today?

Wow! It's not that hot here yet. Been mid 90s. We did get a new Intex pool for our 4 kiddos. Yay! I'm trying to train my cukes up a lean-to style trellis. My cantaloupes are dropping female flowers, and I'm not sure why that might be. They should be getting pollinated, but they are turning yellow at the base then falling off. Help? Should I try hand pollinating a few? Do I need to get them off of the dirt? The plans look healthy enough, shrug...

I am struggling a bit with some seeds.

I cannot get my beans pole and bush to sprout. The packets were new this year too.
I have carrots that are up and happy in the same bed as the bush beans. The carrot seeds were 7 years old and just about every one sprouted.

I will soak seeds and replant.
I use bottled water to soak with so again .

When I got my bean seeds this year I realized I got a Pole bean and wanted bush beans so I specifically went and bought bush beans and even checked twice before I paid that they were a bush variety. I somehow have Pauline’s and never built anything for them to climb off because they were supposed to be bush beans. So they’re kind of falling everywhere and Willie Nelly but I’ve got some blooms even though the leaves look like Swiss cheese from being beetle. I even rechecked my packet of seeds And it says bush beans.

The little girls are hungry so its feeding time.

Female flower drop is do something preventing successful pollination. The most common include excessively hot or cold temperatures and lack of bee activity due to weather.
Have you dusted them? Some dusts like sevin dust are harmful to pollinators.
Yep. I sprayed with neem and DE. I doubt there's a problem with the soil. They're planted in nearly 75% miracle gro garden soil. I'll try the hand pollination. Sounds fun, actually. Come to think of it, I haven't seen bees since we sprayed, just ants, wasps, and roly polies.

Funny thing, I don't even like cantaloupe very much. I'm one of those weirdos that prefer honeydew, but no one else in my family likes it.

Soaking the seeds will work. I pre-germinated nearly every seed I planted this year.
