What did you do in the garden today?

That sounds like a fine way to spend your solstice. I like beach bonfires, but didn't have one this year. I had to put my sweet Abe to sleep yesterday. He was 17, and had been in decline for the past few weeks. I had hopes he would rally, but no. It was time, he was in pain. Hardest thing about having pets. We're sad over here.

More on the garden later--got good stuff coming in.

Oh no, I'm so sorry for your loss.:hugs
We cried for days when we had to put out Bully down. We knew it was coming but it didn't make things easier.

So sorry for your loss. It is hard to make that decision.

I haven't done much with my garden for the past week, other than watering. I had a root canal early this week, then had to go back yesterday to have them finish it. Haven't felt like being outside in 95 plus temps with high humidity.
I went out this morning and checked on things. Tomatoes are starting to turn red, and I have tiny cucumbers starting! I also had a handful of ripe wild black raspberries and blueberries. Blackberries are starting to ripen as well.

Sorry about your loss deepbluesea parting with a pet is never easy. Hopefully given time the positive memories will help out weigh the pain of the loss.
Weeded yesterday, picked yellow squash. Then retreated indoors when the rain arrived. We got an inch and quarter yesterday and the garden paths are back to being flooded.
I hope to replant lettuce spinach and radishes in my pyramid planters this afternoon.

What a day! Had some high winds and rain last night. Needless to say I had to go on a tomato plant tying spree today. Some stems had split open where they bent but didn't break. They might recover.

My cantaloupes have gone crazy, and so have the cucumbers. I didn't leave enough room for these vines at all! Doofy lady! So, I'm probably going to have to trail them outside the bed. Still should get quite a bit from them.

My squash have SVB damage, but it looks like they won't go down without a fight. They are just putting on lots of new growth. I plan to cover the stem damage with dirt and see if they'll go ahead with the growing season.

I'm pretty sure things are goung to die before all the fruit can ripen. I didn't get the garden started early enough and it's just too darn hot. Tomorrow I'm pulling everything except the sunflowers and spreading the soil from the mound I used for the melons. We absolutely must do something about shade for the top of the enclosure.
I fed the grass this morning, holding off cutting it for another week due to the heat. I'm trying to cut back the water a bit but some areas are still filling in.
I've decided to get another hibiscus and keep them on the patio until fall, then transplant them to the North of the boys room where they'll shade the wall in late summer.
I'm off for a shower and bed, I'll be up before the sun. G'night everyone

@deepbluesea ~ Losing a pet, by accident or choice is never easy. Even though you know it may be for the best, it still hurts. I'm so sorry.

@LittleMissCountry ~ Hope you get to feeling better!

Today was watering day. It took me a few hours to get everything watered, but it is finally done. It's so hot here, it just sucks the life right out of ya.
