What did you do in the garden today?

View attachment 1649220 It’s been 3 years since my Father Died. I believe every time you speak of someone who’s passed they hear you. Grief has stages. They always repeat. In time they take on new meanings. My brother & I took mom to a car dealership to trade in the handicap van they drove. To get her a car.
There were beautiful ornamental palms out front. I took a handful of seed pods. Just one took off. Grew it for a year inside then planted it. It hit over 6’ this last year. I have no idea how it survives I have no idea how to trim it. My brothers wife (younger than me) died too young and unexpected. I planted her favorite Shasta Daisy’s. I find peace when I tend to them in my garden. I talk to them. Sometimes I cry. Just cause...

That is really a beautiful and thoughtful tribute. Mahalo for sharing your experience, I appreciate it. Now back to gardening!

early for grafting? I was going to wait till spring... :hmm maybe no need to wait? please let me know your thoughts. :)
For me I always do it about now. My Anna’s bud out so early, they’ve already broken bud, they’ll be flowering in a few weeks.

Today it was 0* this morning.
It’s noon now and it’s 27* bitter winds. At least I got one thing accomplished. Trim back a bush to be transplanted (I’ll have to look up the name I forgot). It blooms beautiful blue flowers.
Time to thaw out and work some more seeds.

ha ha! :p Yes, we have a spring... the summer tells me so. lol. It is just not as obvious as a lot of areas :D Even here the lore is grafting in spring so I was impressed that Dan was able to start grafting now, especially since the winter has hit many areas hard this year. (Though I don't know where he is at in this big world)
I have an important Avocado that I want to graft this year and don't want to miss the boat like I did last year. Figured Dan had some secrets. ;)

Welp, today I placed my order for vegetable seeds! Some things are backordered for a bit, but it's a month out from seed starting weeks anyhow so I have time. My order was placed 2 weeks later than last year and the year before.... I've just been a little all over the place. I still don't have my rotation finished. Alas. I need to buckle down and work on it.
