I always knew this,,,, I'm quite sure that all potatoes should be cooked, never eaten raw.Eating green potatoes raw can make you very, very sick.
That's good information. I was thinking about putting a container for potatoes near the chicken run. Potatoes are in the nightshade family as well and I was concerned the chickens might try to nibble at the leaves.I do have Deadly Nightshade that grows in my fence line. I always keep pulling out the growth. Pretty much impossible to control totally since I wont be going into neighbors yard pulling up his weeds. In all these years,,,,, none of my pets, including chickens shown any interest in snacking on any of those plant parts. Including those delicious looking berries.
Tomato is in the nightshade family. The leaves are poisonous to chickens. My chickens have wandered thru/near my container grown tomatoes in the past. Never shown any interest in the greens, but would certainly eat the ripe fruit.
Interesting article also states that eating beans is good for my intestines. Does not mention that it may not be great for the nostrils of those nearby.
Back to potatoes,,,,,,, I have no desire to try them raw. I do like to take New potatoes, or Yukon Gold, or Red potatoes, and ,,,,, Cut into halves,,, Dip open face into my mixture of seasonings,,, Place that side onto hot griddle pan in my BBQ grill. Short time later, they are done, and
I might have a pix of some on the grill if I search enough.
