I put work into starters. Cuttings in water and they had about 8” of roots and vines with leaves when I put them outside. A friend gave me KOZY COATS from Burpee. Depending on how much water you put in them they act like either a cone or a circle to protect from frost. I really like them.Oh man, I would like to grow sweet potatoes, but our growing season is short and our soil is chilly which makes it tough to do. I've heard that the vines are really great snacks for rabbits, very nutrient dense and great for growing kits to processing size. I may have to look into how to grow some in future years.
My season is short too. Without the “coats” they probably never would of produced decent size tubers.
