What did you do in the garden today?

Well, if worst case scenario does happen to the tree I would be glad to send you some pine tree saplings. We have TONS of them. Long leaf, loblolly, short leaf, and pinion pines. Just lmk if you want some and you are welcome to them

This pine is a white pine. We have short leaf pine here, but I would love to have pinion pines here. We have quite a bit of white pine, but all in the woods and not around our house. I want to put in some pine or spruce between our house and the neighbors houses so we have a year round "fence" for privacy. Someone bought the ground across the road from us, and are building a house directly across from us. :barnie They don't have much choice I guess, because like our land, there are only a few flat spots, and the rest is sloped. It still is annoying.

Where abouts do you live @AppleValley1 nice plantings do you need at all to worry of deer?
I live in a very rural town in south central MS. Deer dont bother our gardens except for watermelons, and the raccoons are worse than deer really but only if we are all gone and we take our dogs with us. We have 3 of the best cowdogs that take care of the whole place for us. They keep our unwanted guests to a minimum.

I will send u some pinion saplings. I could imagine being annoyed having neighbors so close by. I wouldn't know what to do if I had a neighbor that didnt moo or neigh, love my privacy. I've got several hardwoods too if you would rather plant them. Some oaks grow pretty fast. My fave is a pin oak, they give the best shade in the world and are so pretty...cherry bark oaks are real nice too but nothing compared to the shade of a pin oak. I love sharing and have plenty of them to share for now. When we clear cut this 48ac for the new lake I wont have much left to share.

I'm taking a well deserved break. I actually found a place where I could buy just 1 cubic yard of dirt and they delivered it. OMG! This is all the dirt I need to fill the new raised beds and fill for the chicken run expansion. The price was immensely cheaper than buying by the bag. I still need to amend it with some compost but it still saved me a lot. I planted my summer squash yesterday directly in the garden. I forgot to buy bell pepper seeds so I picked up two plants today. I won't forget to buy those seeds again. I planted them right away. I started seeds indoor for a friend of mine. He's been so busy planting his new apple orchard that he hasn't had time to start anything. He works full time and his farm is one state over so he has to cram his farm work into weekends. I got the one raised bed that I finished up yesterday filled halfway with dirt. I'll have to get some compost in there next before adding more dirt. My spinach is really doing well and the peas are growing well also. I'm contemplating buying a larger freezer so I'll have room for all the produce come harvest time.

Got a few new plants for the patio and the cottage garden yesterday.
