Did you put a weed barrier or something around the inside of the lattice to keep dirt in? I have a TON of unused lattice and this would be a great way to reuse it.

Yes, I put cardboard on the bottom and weed barrier on the sides. I have one of these I put in last year in the main garden area. It works really well.

Also, if you have a lot of this lattice you could make different shapes to give the garden more interest. The bird bath came with the house, I’m thinking putting in a little fountain.

That is such an awesome idea! Thank you. I just checked and I have 7 or 8 full pieces I can cut in half. Garden expansion is going to happen by next Spring.

I like that idea. I just use a shovel most days. Although after dumping the straw and poo from the chicken house clean out in there, I don't want to get within 10 feet of that thing. It rained the next day and I smelled it as soon as I walked out the door. Ick.

I did find the nest of my wandering chicken. She had a ton of eggs and I'm sure they were all fertile. I confiscated them because I have 4 hens, 2 roosters and 13 chicks out in a house that should fit 15 chickens. 4 of those chicks will be going in August to the 4-H fair and then we'll be more manageable. Hopefully the older hens will keep them from eating all my garden plants.

Keep an eye on my girls they have a quarter acre to play in all weedeated weeds
have had those nests also

I don't have chickens! And my ducks think anything that isn't bugs or duck crumbles is Actually Poison (tm) I think they listen to the goats.
