What did you do in the garden today?

I don't see any slugs. Hmm. It won't rain for a couple of days. I'll bait. I'm also going to go out and plant some mustard and some green beans. gloomy and fighting to make it to 65 today. Either or ice, drought or flood here.

New shingles come tomorrow. Hopefully a new roof on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll be glad to be done with it.

My oldest decided she was going to feed the slugs in her yard. Apple slices.

Beer is something slugs like. They get in and drown happy. I never tried it ,,,,,, since never had any beer leftover:gig
My hens picked all the slugs they encountered searching in the garden:thumbsup

I haven't seen the big black widows, but I've seen plenty of the regular sized ones lol
The regular sized ones are bad enough! Last year, I had one make a nest in my tomato plants. I didn't notice it until the babies hatched and I kept finding little exoskeletons everywhere, after they shed them. Ugh!

We have creek spiders. They get as big as your hand, thankfully they don't want inside. I just walk past them slowly, careful not to make eye contact. Eyes contact. :shudder:

I told her I wasn't bringing her any more plants. She'll figure it out when her hosta look like swiss cheese...I hope. Diversity makes the world go round...right?:th

My oldest is a champion of all animals, even the insects and pests. She goes out and picks the slugs off my plants just so I won't kill them. Then she carries them down to the woods to rehome them. They are probably the same slugs making their way back day after day. :hmm

We have gotten 7 inches of rain over the weekend, and more is predicted for tonight and tomorrow. I haven't done much but pull the potted garden plants under the covered back patio. It has been raining nonstop!

I am also trying to get ready for a vacation, for 10 days! Packing for a family of four for 10 days, with airline luggage regulations is not easy.

My neighbor is going to take care of the animals and chickens, and water the garden as needed. So I am also trying to get all the pet and chicken food lined out and set out for easy access. I don't know if they will do much cleaning with the chicken coop (we scoop poop daily), so we may come back to a yucky mess. Our run is a semi deep litter, but the inside of the coop is raised, so we use sand and scoop it daily.
