What did you do in the garden today?

The Critter Ridder 2 pounds is about finished. Yes it worked, but did not last as long as I WISH it did.:(
Got this to try,

Note::: it states Long Lasting,,,,, and Rain Resistant Formula.
It is also 2/3 the price of the Critter Ridder same quantity. 2LBs. $10vs$15:idunno
I will let everyone know how this one works:thumbsup

Good morning gardeners. Not much was done in the garden yesterday. I've started spending a half day at the Senior Center on Wednesdays so I can interact with humans and take a break from the chickens. However the garden is doing well. I checked it about an hour ago and 5 out 6 broccoli plants are growing well with 3 of them having a small crown. The peas are blooming more and everything is looking pretty healthy. Today is rainy and cool so the lettuce, broccoli and turnips should especially enjoy the day. I am delivering the farewell cake today so it's OK that it will be raining because I don't have the time to work in the garden anyway. My pole beans are just starting to wrap around the base of the poles so they should be more photogenic next week. So @cavemanrich, where did you find the Tomcat brand? Was it Walmart or HD? I noticed the ingredient list. The first being peppermint oil. I use mint and rosemary in my house to chase away mice and ants. I just sprinkle them around. Nice aroma, beats the heck out of Glade. LOL! On the flowering side of the garden: the peonies are just starting to open and so are the roses. I'm really looking forward to the daylilies blooming because they make wonderful cut flowers. My next big garden project will be creating a large cutting garden so I can have fresh flowers in the house. Have a great day everyone.

I got it at HD yesterday. It was in same section as the other. I wanted to get something that would hold up to rain.
In the last 2 days it has been raining. Went out this morning and find this. Just took these pix a minute ago.

2 days ago I sprinkled a GOOD DOSE of Critter Ridder. The rains came, and apparently effectiveness washed away:(

There are more than just what is in pix. Even If I caught them RED HANDED, I could only say to them :(" DON'T GO AWAY MAD,,,, JUST GO AWAY" (from my flowers)
Hoping the Tom Cat will hold up when it rains,,:idunno

I have had luck with Repel All. I have no idea if it lasts through rain, as I reapply after rain, but it keeps the deer off my fruit trees, and kept the squirrels out of my flower bulbs this year. I bought it at Tractor Supply.

Gross as it is, at the recommendation of my neighbor, I also bought concentrated wolf urine granules. She is about as much of a naturalist as you can be. Her family even makes their own salves and remedies out of herbs. She said the wolf urine keeps fox and possum out as well as other critters. I sprinkled some around the perimeter of the chicken coop area, and haven't had a possum since. We haven't seen the fox that used to hang around either, but that could be a coincidence.

It’s good to know you are OK. I bought a generator after Hurricane Sandy and haven’t had a power failure since. My current house has a transfer switch and I still have my to date unused generator. I look at it as insurance.

Thanks! Yes, we need one for backup as well, just in case. Our house is all electric, so in the winter it could get cold if the power goes out.

Mowed for three hours and then collected all the grass with the sweep. Made great piles of fresh grass to spread around the plants in the garden and around the squash. Any extra I will put under the mulberry tree, which is going ripe, but the berries are tiny (about the size of peas) and not worth picking this year.

Hey still alive made it through shopping and dinner great wall of China in Silver Creek about 8 miles up the road one of the deals we have grocery days I do not cook
MIL lives in Lacey, opted out of vacation this year with their fam. They're all virgos and convinced they're smart and open minded...most narrow people I've ever met, which limits the smart part. Spent a couple of days with my daughter and grandbaby, spending a couple more with mom, close on 90 now but slowing down.
Helped daughter do some gardening...on the other side of the house from the slug feeding frenzy, looks cute, planted a cheap $5 colored basket with flowers to go on the deck, matches all the deck toys lol. Drove forever to find a particular annual to go in a pot, finally found the last one at a garden center, beautiful misty looking flowers. Would love seed so I don't have to search every year, but don't think it's a remote possibility. Ugh. Could order direct, might do that next time, would have been cheaper on gas.

The pink striped superbells will get huge and cascade over the front, the pink varigated sweet potato vine will drape down the back under a hummingbird feeder they have up. Only gets sun from 1pm onward, should be fine.

Good morning gardeners. We must have been in the same weather grid yesterday @Acre4Me, I think it may have got to 60F but it rained until 4 pm and was just raw with the wind. However the garden seemed to like it. The lettuce, broccoli and turnips look bigger and taller this morning. I did spot a slug munching on the pole beans so I picked him off. I think I'll try crushed egg shells rather than driving to the liquor store to buy a round of beer for the little slime balls. The weather forecast for today is for cooler temps with a high approaching 70F, so hopefully I can get the backyard mowed this afternoon. Have a great day everyone and Oops! I almost forgot: Happy Flag Day and Happy Father's Day weekend to all you Dad's and Grandpa's out there. Enjoy! :frow
