What did you do in the garden today?

Grumpy baby bird!

Currently 86 degrees with a dewpoint of 75. NASTY.

CHickens are out. Safer out than in.
ALpacas have their swimming pool filled and have been hosed off. The barn is full open and the fans running.

I'm inside tearing old Tshirts to tie up some tomatoes...later. Phew HOT. Tomato plants should LOVE it.

The Thomas Laxton Peas that are in my garden, and I posted pics above, have purple pods! They will have green peas, but the pods are purple (and from what I read, will stay purple). These are shelling peas, so the pod is not edible.

Good afternoon gardeners :frow

I watered this morning and the flock is out digging around under some bushes that rarely get watered. There must be lots of bugs because they're quite chatty about something. It's hot and dry here. Our human decided monsoon season started 6/15 but Mother Nature laughs. She might get around to it eventually I suppose.
Penny you're welcome to send those storms down here!

Mosquitoes???:he
Actually I looked it up. I thought it was a spider but the symptoms seem to point to the kissing bug. I’m not familiar with this but apparently it has been moving further north the past few years. I’ve been taking low doses of Benadryl all day and it seems to be helping. I’m rather proud of my old self as I did a quick shopping trip and managed to mow the backyard. Tabouleh salad and homemade grilled naan bread for dinner. I’m sure I’ll sleep well tonight. Did I mention it got up near 90F today.

More pictures! A few days of sun and heat will do wonders!

Soybean flowers! For Edamame

Here is a potato "fruit" = a seed case, I suppose. This year only one type of potato flowered - the other potato has not flowered. I looked it up, and apparently there are some types of potatoes that do not flower. This one did and left its little fruit. Nope - not going to eat it - pretty sure it would be toxic, since the potato plant itself is toxic.

Ew, those are awful. I have been bitten by them before. There were several of them out today when we were picking blackberries.
